so all the songs are up on mp3.com now. you can get them by clicking on the sounds link on the main page or by clicking here. funny thing is though we probably will never be playing any of those songs live again except 'i can't think for myself' and 'hey thanks for calling the cops on us' cause i've decided i only want to play bass from now on and also cause the new songs we've been writing are like 10 times better than most of the old stuff. the last sarasota show with examination of the... was really disappointing for us cause almost no one came plus no one really seemed to like us anyway. but hopefully people will come out to the show on june 21st with songs of zarathustra, red all over and the bark, the bite (all of whom are really, _really_ incredible) and maybe our new stuff will go over better. i guess we've decided to go on sort of a mini tour this summer around florida with another amazing band called a day's refrain (ex-members of the assistant), check them out if you haven't heard them at www.adaysrefrain.com. then there's the little issue of our second singer who hasn't really even practiced with us yet, but i guess we won't worry about that yet. not too much else has been going on with us. oh, i'm now playing guitar for blackout terror, our first show is this friday at the orlando magic fest. come out if you feel like it, but please don't heckle me no matter how tempted you are. alright, that's all the news for now. hope to see you all soon
love, david

hey yo, joey here with the update this time. the main reason for this update is to inform you of our new mp3s. the only new one up as of now is 'camp undead', but more should appear over time, so check them out if you want. also, if you haven't noticed, it appears as if dear diary may not be going on tour over the summer. we still have to talk about it as a band, but we know for sure that we aren't doing that three week long extravaganza that was originally planned. there still is the possibility of doing a little five day mini-tour with the bark-the bite, but again, we still have to talk about it. also worth mention is the radio show static on 1280am, a neat little one hour punk/hardcore thing that airs at 8p.m. monday nights, or so i'm told. anyway, dear diary got some airtime with 'i can't think for myself', so thanks to the folks who put that up and good luck with the future shows. well, that's all i can think of right now...

i swear chad updates this thing like everyday, but somehow the news has been the same for the last two weeks. we've played one show at the center of radical empowerment in st. pete last week and one at the stone soup collective last in orlando last night and both are really awesome places that you all should support if possible. sorry to the guys who set up the ft. lauderdale show but we weren't able to play for a number of reasons. we've been trying to work out ways of making this summer tour thing possible. specifically, we're dealing with the slight problem of getting our equipment from one city to the next, so if anyone out there has like a van they want to give us or a trailer they'd like to let us borrow e-mail us. please. also, do yourself a favor and come to the sutek conspiracy show tonight, we played with them last night and they blew us away. incredible. in other news, i'm tired. that's all for now,
love, david

hey everyone, its chad. it's 1:28 in the morning and i have to go to school in about...4 hours, well anyway, i talked to a lot of people this week...and there was some "new" issues brought up...
#1: the split with ...and sometimes i might be made into a 10" not 7" so ...asi can put more songs on, as can we...this will be released either DIY or on Street Force Records from Ft. Lauderdale FL.
#2: we might do a split 7" with Numbers are Neutral from Pennsylvania, i talked to Sam and he said he wants to do it and that he's sending me the DAT's this week, we'll see what happens with that.
#3: we have a new singer, but he is leaving, well, tomorrow...he's in but not playing shows with us till he comes back.
#4: david has been "signed" to a "new" band, you'll have to guess which, im not going to tell you...
well kids, this is almost everything i can think of to tell you...im sure theres more but i can't think too clearly...but i can tell you were playing a fest on July 31st with Soothsayer, What Wishes Can't Mend, Man Fillet, Dead to Fall and As the Ruins Fall...it'll be fun! but hey because i'm sleep deprived, i'm not making sense...but anyway, ill give you any new info when i get it
Take Care!

some news you guys might be interested in. our site at mp3.com is up, so those of you who complained about not being able to download the songs off our site may have better luck there, http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/253/dear_diary. so, if you're bored download some songs from there even if you already have them, cause we get money if enough people download them. in other news, there is talk of adding a second singer to the band, i don't know if i should say who yet, but i will say it is definitely NOT RICKY!! we haven't practiced with him yet, but we will this friday and we'll know what's up by then. there is more news but it's a secret too. take care, everyone,
love, david.
You can listen to the Dear Diary songs that are going to be on the 7" by clicking them.

hey, david again. i noticed that the news hasn't been updated in a while so i've taken it upon myself to do it. we recorded last weekend, as many of you may know and the mp3s are up, though they only work on some people's computer. it's a rough mix at this point, but i think they sound good enough for the time being. probably because both songs clock in at about 4 minutes each, only one of them is going to go on the 7", but there's talk of recording some more in a few weeks before new college is out for good, so hopefully we'll do that and have a couple more songs recorded that we're not ashamed of, and then we'll figure out what we're doing from there. i think i may also be assisting dynamosaurus rex in recording tomorrow and transgression to record sometime in late may. unfortunately dynamosaurus is going to be taking a break for the summer because of personal reasons (plus they fight all the time, so time apart may be the best thing for them), so if you can make it to the show in orlando this saturday i think that might be their last for a while. you should also come to that show because it's going to be ...and sometimes i's last show for an even longer time (maybe even their last show ever...), cause chris, the singer, is moving back to connecticut. lots of shows coming up this summer, which is exciting, and tour is shaping up nicely. i think we're all pretty excited about it, the only obstacle is evan's parents. ok, well, i've just written a book pretty much, so i'll stop here. love you all,
-david

Hey everyone, well the Tallahasee show was soo much fun, ...and sometimes i's last show in Tallahasee was awesome, all the bands played great, and thanks to krishna for letting us play at the pocket pita sandwich emporium. It was hot but well worth the drive. Anyway, ...and sometimes i and dear diary are going on a mini 3-day tour to Ft. Myers, Orlando and Sarasota, then ...and sometimes i is going to VA and NC then...they're done...for good. But before they "die", we're going to release a split 7" with them in the near future. Dear Diary is going to record this saturday (21APR01) for this release.

you all MUST read the pine view catastrophe. but in other news, the show with ...and sometimes i in sarasota was great. i swear they get better every time i see them, meaning that the show in tallahassee this weekend will be the best show ever. also when all else fails played their last show ever and pretty much the whole crowd was singing along and it was really inspiring. on the opposite end of the spectrum, dynamosarus rex played their first show and blew everyone away. jiyuna also played but i missed them ( which i now regret ) but i heard good things about it. anyway, if you're going to be in tallahassee tomorrow you should come to our show at the pocket sandwich emporium, it should be really fun. it starts at 9:00 or so even though the fliers say 6:30.
hey guys this is david doing the update this time cause chad dislocated his shoulder when he got in a fight with a football player over a girl or something, i couldn't really understand what he was talking about. anyway, he's doing lots of drugs now cause of the pain, and so we're not going to play any more shows until he's straightedge again. pretty much that just means we're cancelling the april 7th show, but hopefully he'll be better for the battle of the bands or else the rest of the band will make him give us $250. and we should still be playing tallahassee. yep. we're still setting up shows though for the next few months and maybe some fests. you know, we're rockstars. come see us at pretzel fest in pennsylvania, we don't know where or when it is, but look for us under the name "usurp synapse." that's all for now, take care everybody.
oh, and there's a secret link somewhere on the website, accessing you to a secret, find it and email you.
love, david.
Hey again, we've been asked to play a few more shows for the future, one is in Ft. Lauderdale WITH: Kite Flying Society, Soothsayer, Man Holdin Briefcase and more, but there is no set date or venue yet, so when i get that i'll add it to the shows page. And we are playing a High School Battle of the Bands April 12th in Sarasota. First Place wins $250, that would help so much if we won, then we could record and make demos for everyone. and possibly release something??? who knows. And in June sometime Neil Perry is going to be playing near here and maybe we'll play with them, again who knows. But Song of Zarathustra is definetly playing 1 show with us in FL, maybe we'll play more FL dates with them. I recently got 2 new records, they are both soo amazing you all must get them, they were The Spirit of Versailles split with Rise from Ruins and The Sutek Conspiracy split with Cobra Kai. these are both on Chiaroscuro Records and $3.00 p.p.d. Send check or Money Order to:
Brad Smith
P.O. Box 723
Hermitage, TN 37076.
It'll be worth the $6, trust me. thats all the news for now! take care.

The site is almost done, not quite finished but you get the impression. Well the show with Hero of a Hundred Fights was awesome, that band is so good, you should buy all their merch...it's well worth it. I was glad to see alot of our friends at the show, thank you for coming out. And we are booking more shows for April and May but since they're not confirmed...they're not going up on the shows list, but as soon as they're confirmed, they'll go up. We're trying to get shows in Gainesville, Stuart, Tallahasee, Tampa, Jacksonville, Brandon, Orlando, and anywhere else in FL, so if you can help us out it would be greatly appreciated, email chad or david with any help on shows. We are saving money as we speak to record, make stickers, shirts, etc. I'll let you know when any kind of merch is made, and when it is, the "fliers" page will become a "Merch" page, but i'll keep the fliers up on the site, you'll have to click them from the "shows" page, sorry. And a few thank you[s] go out to Daniel Malin, Nelson Hallonquist and Mike Haley for all their help, its greatly appreciated. But for now, thats all! take care.
-chad.
Well, the website is up...kinda, it's still under a lot of construction, but i am hoping to have it done by the end of March. But as you can see we have a few shows that we would like you all to come to, if you email me: chad or david for any info or directions on shows, we'd be glad to answer any of your questions. Dear Diary is going to record a demo of some sort in April, I'll keep you posted on how that works out. But other than that there's no other things i can think of to let you know. So i guess this is goodbye...for now.
