Pine View Catastrophe
Hey, everyone, once opon a time, this band called Dear Diary was asked to play a high school battle of the bands, so they get there and its a huge gymnasium full of pop punk rock stars, anyway, they set up all their equipment and wait for the "show" to start. Well 7:30 comes around and they announce that Dear Diary is about to play, so we stroll on down to our musical instruments and are "psyching" ourselves up for the songs, so we tell everyone to come out of the bleachers, ( because about 500 people were sitting down about 50 feet away from us and its not a show unless people "mosh" ) so the people come down and we begin to play our first song ( "Hey, Thanks for Calling the Cops on Us," ironically enough ) and all the kids are dancing and having fun, then the song goes into a "mosh" part and a "few" kids start to get "crazy" and someone "might" have gotten hurt, ( highly doubtful ) anyway, so we get done playing the song and sooo many kids we're clapping, then one of the police officers announced that everyone had to sit back in the bleachers and not be standing when bands are playing. So we said, "If they can't stand, we're not going to play," and the asshole lady who was "setting" up this whole thing said, "The kids aren't staying down here, there going back to the bleachers". David, our guitarist and bassist got into an argument with the lady in charge and basically cussed her out, but to to top it all off, he stuck up his middle finger about 3 inches from her face and said, "This is bullshit, kids want to have fun, let the fuckers dance, who the fuck is it hurting huh? Not you, you clueless son of a bitch," and pushed her face in a mean way. And then he walked off and came over to us all and told us the good news, that we had been kicked out of the gym and "were no longer allowed on the premises". So we all decided that this wasn't worth all the trouble, so we started to take down our equipment when I had the brilliant idea to set up our stuff outside the gym and play outside for kids that came to see us play. Well we got all of our stuff outside and I got my drums all set up, all we needed was the amps to be turned on and we could've played. But before we could finish setting up about 45 kids came outside to see us play, and the cops kind of caught on what was going on and basically shut us down again. All the kids were heckling the cops, it was great, everyone wanted to see us play and the cops had to ruin it, I hate cops, and The Locust, anyway, the cop basically gave us an ultimatum, he said, "You pack up your shit and get out of here or I'll be sending some kids home in a squad car, and don't make me call the station and have them send me down a van to confiscate all the equipment, just get your shit and go," ( he meant 1-2-GO! but couldnt say it in front of his "colleagues" ) so we walked around the gym for about 20 minutes before actually attempting to load our stuff. The cops got kind of mad and tried to take my drums down and put them in the back of the cop car, but me having excellent timing walked out right as they were putting my bass drum in the trunk. I "hollered" at the officer and told him to "drop my shit", and then I "snatched" my bass drum away from his car and set it back to where my drums "originally" were set up, then again, I walked back into the gym. But this time the cop was "fed-up with my bullshit" and "escorted" me out to the equipment and told me to "Put that fucking shit into the god damn car", so I got into a "verbal altercation" with the young officer, I told him "I'd get my shit when i was ready, I'm not a fucking dog, I don't take orders", and I guess that made him kind of mad so he threw me onto the hood of our car, and tried to put the "handcuffs" on me, but I then explained to him I was "blowing off steam" and I'd calm down in about 5 minutes. And he let me go and I loaded up my drums, and got David and Evan and told them to load up stuff and get ready to go. But we didn't want to go...you see, we weren't having fun at all and we just wanted to "heckle" the "officers". But the people in charge of the "show" recognized us by our clothes, so we changed our clothes and went inside and heckled, and it got real, REAL, boring so we left. David still had an attitude from before and was "cussing up a god damn storm" ( as he had said in the car ) at the cars that were "blocking" him in. But when we got home, his mom told us she was very proud of us sticking up for our principals and then told us that she'd be putting $250 into his bank account on monday morning. So all in all the day sucked, but we got $250 from his awesome mom, we love her!
P.S. - We would like to thank the two girls that were in the "Interact Club" who tried to help us out with the cops, they ended up not really changing anything, but at least they attempted to, and we appreciate it very much. And thank you to the Jacco Parents, for being really supportive. I wish all people were as cool as them.
P.P.S - Thanks to all of our friends that came out, it was "cool" seeing you all there. Hopefully we'll see you again!
Take Care,
Love, Chad
