Yet when groups like the gay rights movement fight for simple equality the Christians are the first to protest their gaining "special priviledges" just because they don't agree with their sexuality. After all, it's a trait they chose and they shouldn't be treated equally for showing a characteristic they chose to exhibit.
May I remind you, foolish Christians, that your religion is voluntary as well. But if I refused to hire you because of it you'd kick up a huge fuss. Hell, the ACLU would probably represent you against me. And, I assure you, you'd win because it would be just. The reason they so often conflict with the agenda of the Christian Right is because fundies are so often unjust. Christians are not entitled to special treatment either. However, they are so used to it that when they are denied it they think it is the oft-prophecied "persecution" they're so paranoid about.
Look at ancient Rome for a prophetic history lesson. The Pagan Romans who composed the majority persecuted Christians relentlessly. When Christians became the majority, though, they used the same avenues of persecution to wipe out the former majority. This could very well be repeated in modern times. As Christians gain power to oppress minority groups, they run the risk of triggering a repeat of history as minority groups rise up to demolish them. those who do not remember their own rise to power will suffer the same fate as those they once vanquished-utter annihilation.
