| Another thing that bothers me about this whole ordeal is the crazy soldier. He told his commanding officer that he didn't feel right fighting his own people (he was a devout Muslim). The c.o. wrote him up for insubordination and shipped him out. Is it any surprise that he started chunking grenades into his allies' tents during the night? People do snap during war, ya know. The deaths of those soldiers are on the c.o.'s hands. He should've taken the hint and put crazy soldier behind a desk until this war is over. But the U.S. obviously doesn't take well to being warned. They just charge ahead as they did before 9/11. They had warnings then but ignored them. Such is the price of having a bureaucracy. I just can't wait until there's another attack that bumbling law enforcement can't prevent, more American lives are lost, and they take away more of my civil liberties. It's like some form of appeasement, us becoming less and less America for the benefit of the terrorists. They may have incurred our wrath and have condemned themselves to death for it, but they wrote out America's eulogy in fire and smoke in the skies of New York and Washington D.C. The paranoia, the fear, the seeds planted with McCarthyism have finally grown into a terrible harvest. As the leaders gleefully reap that harvest they change this once-great nation of freedom into something horrid, something unnatural. They change the United States into something it was never meant to be. |
