June 2007
A
lot has happened over the past month. We now own our domain (yay!)
and are working on our third issue... Secrecy. It's taken
a lot of time to get the second issue up -- it always takes longer
than we expect -- but at least it's here. Finally.
There
is some really high quality writing in Urban and we are
proud of everyone's work. We had to reject a lot of quality pieces
because unfortunately they didn't fit the theme closely enough.
Hopefully our feedback to these writers is encouraging. One of
our greatest aims is to encourage new writers and new writing,
so if you have received feedback from us, let us know if it was
useful or not; and if it was not useful, tell us how we can improve
it.
We
are really keen to hear from any artists out there who might
like to work with us as cover artists. If you are keen to have
your art appear on (or in) Harbinger, drop us a line and
we might be able to work something out.

May 2007
Well,
we got so many submissions for the second issue, 'urban', that
we are still going through them and our targeted launch date
for the second issue has been pushed back further and further
until... Yes, anyway. We are in the process of bringing it online
to you, however, and it will hopefully be up and accessible within
a few weeks - and certainly before the end of June!
In
the meantime we are still open for submissions generally. Our
next issue WILL be themed; so watch out for further announcements
in the coming weeks. Our new theme will be launched at the same
time as our second issue.

April 2007
You
may have noticed that our website continually changes. Our most
recent redevelopment has been in a bid to increase our web-traffic.
It also means that our pages are generally more consistent, and
easier to get to. As our journal is continually evolving, we
appreciate all comments about the functionality and readability
of the site. We also appreciate suggestions for coming issues.
We
are still receiving submissions for the second issue, which is
fantastic. We've also received interested queries from artists
looking to submit cover art, which is something that we always
appreciate. Our submissions close in roughly two weeks, so there
is still plenty of time to get your material in. And remember,
if you miss this deadline, you can always submit your work for
issue #03!

March 2007
The first
issue, as you may know, was launched at the end of February,
and we've had lots of lovely comments from those who contributed,
and from general readers. We aim to put up a comments page at
some point in the future; in the meantime, if you have comments
please email them to us at [email protected].
You may have
noticed that we EXTENDED THE DEADLINE for issue #02.
The reason for this is that throughout April many of our team
are away: some go away over Easter, and others over Anzac Day.
So, instead of having contributions sitting there and authors
getting fidgety, we've etended our deadline until our team are
all back on deck. It also gives people the chance to use their
days off to polish up their work! If you have any queries about
the next issue, please email our editors.
In the meantime,
our MySpace
page is getting bigger, as is our network. MySpace is
where we post bulletins, blog what's going on, and generally
keep the world informed, so if you want regular updates about
what we're doing at Harbinger, that's the place to go to.

March 2007
Getting the
first issue up was a bit of a struggle. We coped with unexpected
hardware issues late in 2006. We dealt with unfinancial positions,
illness, food poisoning, and lots of travelling in between. And
yet Harbinger. is finally a reality. The inaugural issue is a
triumph for all involved, and the next issue is under construction
as this is being written. Our site is now fully functional, and
we look forward to gaining further contributions for the second
issue. We are aiming to have the second issue up by the end of
May, so get back to your desktop and get writing! The deadline
is 7 April 2007.
