This is Blue, our first stud dog and brand new member to the Happy Tails gang.
We were fortunate enough to be looking for a stud dog the same time as a well established kennel was closing its doors and distributing all its stock. Fire Mountain, which has been around for over 20 years and is the foundation to many lines of Rat Terriers, including the foundation line to our sweet Sugar, was selling out. We went up there with the hope that there may be a male left that would suit our breeding program. We saw a couple and nothing struck our fancy until this handsome man was brought out to see us. He was a little shy as he was mostly a kennel dog, but he had such a sweet face and wonderful conformation with more bone than I could have hoped for. Being a visual blue was just icing on the cake. We asked about his parents, a son of Lil Boy Blue and Sassy Too, we knew he would carry a variety of color as well as having great genetics.
We feel very lucky to have him here and would like to offer a big thank you to Kerri and Rosalie for all your hard work and contribution to this breed.
Now , having been a member of our family, he is adjusting well. Our daughter likes to make word plays on his name since he is my shadow when I am outside, she calls him,"Blue By You". It always gets a laugh. He has started playing with the other dogs and is just a gentleman. |
