...if you dont mind getting a little dirty and you arent afraid of carrying a backpack, putting on some decent walking boots and are prepared to sweat away a few kilometres....then perhaps....what I have to offer may interest you. These excursions, trips, treks and expeditions are not for the faint hearted. They are aimed at the more adventurous Thinking Traveller that wants to experience real Wilderness Areas in our Outback and Rainforest Environments. |

I have been a Wilderness Expedition leader in North Queensland for over twenty years. Working for myself or other companies conducting walks and excursions into the more remote Wilderness Areas of our region. These trips would suit anyone who wants a bit more than an airconditioned bus trip looking at nature through a tinted glass window. |

A six day Walking Expedition following Edmund Kennedys trip through the Featherbed Ranges from the Western Tablelands to Chillagoe in South East Cape York. We follow ancient Aboriginal and Wildlife trails from waterhole to waterhole along the Walsh River escarpaments. Camping out along the waterholes each night under the stars and around a good old fashioned campfire. Our pack weight will be aproximately 18 kilograms and the daily walk covers 20 kilometers over a 6 hour walking period each day. Plenty of time for a look around and photo opportunities as well as refreshing swims in the various waterholes. We carry everything we need with us on our backs and also carry all rubbish back out.We do not hunt but do supplement our food with fishing the waterholes. This is strictly a low impact camping tour so if you want to play Rambo...this may not suit you. Along the way I will tell you what I know of the History of the place, Aboriginal and European. We will be actively searching for Ancient Aboriginal Sites and visting those we have found in the area on past expeditions. We will also be gathering data on the Flora and Fauna of the area as we travel through. There are no age restrictions to this trip. Anyone who thinks they can do it is welcome to participate. These are very remote Wilderness areas far from the comfort and convenience of the City and the only way out in an emergency will be by Helicopter. A satelite telephone will be carried for an emergency and I strongly reccomend that you take out adequate personal insurance against injury, death or loss of any equipment. You will be required to sign a waiver of responsibility at the start of the expedition. Litigation Laws today neccesitate this. A full erary can be found on this page. |
