| 6th July 2005 Pick up from your accommodation and a meeting with the guide / guides for a briefing before the trip departure. A chance to meet your fellow expeditionists and a trip briefing covering things like Trip ettiquete, maps and photos of the area we will be walking through, food and dietary requirements, medical information , dos and donts. General questions you may want answered. Evening refreshments and return to your accommodation. |

| 6 am Depart Cairns and drive to the Western Tablelands stopping for breakfast in Mareeba before making our way to the drop off area. The journey from Cairns will take about 3 hours. The last section of our vehicle journey will be a 4wd track to get us into the drop off area where the last of the packing of backpacks will occur. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
