Minor ii chords are the ones that you hear in songs thatll bring you into the mvi of whatever key youre in. How this is found, & played is..lets say that youre in Eb, and you want to go into youre minor vi,(C) you can look at it in two different ways. 1st you know that the minor two is F in Eb, now in F you count 5 scale degrees, theres your m6!
The chords to get there will be an Fm, 3rd inversion with a D in the bass, now get thisthat bass is the start of a circle of 4ths ! Starting from D, a 4th from there is G and a 4th from that is"C"!!! Now the chord for the G bass is a BM7(b5) 1st inv. and the chord for the minor 6th is either Cm7 or EbM7, 3rd inv.
The 2nd way to look at it is that if you go
backwards from D, 5 scale degrees, its the start of the circle of 5ths !!! Do you see how this works??? All you have to do is study, once you get these down, material will be a lot easier for you to learn.

Ah yessss, the famed tri-tone chord! Well theres a couple of ways to play it, but I like this version of it. It consists of playing the ii V I of the chord youre playing in the right hand & the 3rd & 7th of that chord in the left hand: CBb / DGC, thats the tri-tone in C. Thats it in a nutshell! Its that simple, it takes the place of the regular CBb / CEG chord, which is a 7th chord, by the way, and so are tri-tones. Good for expression and in fast songs, also for backing the preacher.

TRI-TONES
KEY  L.H. / R.H                   KEY  L.H. / R.H
C      EBb / DGC               Gb    BbE / AbDbGb
Db  FB / EbAbDb             G       BF / ADG
D     GbC / EAD                Ab      CGb / BbEbAb
Eb   GDb / FBbEb           A        DbG / BEA
E      AbD / GbBE               B        EbA / DbGbB
F      AEb / GCF                C        EBb / DGC

Practice these and get used to them, hearing how they sound and put them into your playing. Try this exercise out:

    DAb / DGC
    EbA / DGC
   DbG / GCF
    EbBb / DGC
    AbEb / DCF
    EbBb / DGC
    DbAb / CFBb

Now that was 4th chord city there with variations in the left hand, in the key of C, well get to those soon.
