Act one Scene one

1.) Shakespeare tries to get the reader involved. The expressions in their voices capture the reader or watcher. Uneasy times are about to occur at the kingdom.
3.) It is hard to even try to relate or even get some of the things they say. I wish there was a way to get around the wording. Put it in English for me.
6.) Horatio, “at least the whisper goes so; our last king… Horatio is telling this to Masrcellus. There’s trust there. Many people would never speak out of anything. Or else they are called crazy.

Scene two

1.) Your starting to understand the royal family. Hamlets mother married his uncle. She didn’t even let her late husbands body get cold. Hamlet is next in line so the family wants him to stay.
4.) Hamlet, “But break, my heart, for I must hold my tongue.” I think he just wants to lash out in anger. His family shows no feelings for what happened.
5.) The king spoke to Hamlet as he was nothing. He would put down anything Hamlet would say. Only because the king was so superior he thought he was the best.

Scene three

1.) We said good-bye to Laertes to scene. He told Ophelia that he didn’t want her to see Hamlet. There is some things people need to experience for themselves
7.) To Polonius and Laertes, I think you both need to back off. Let your little sister be who she wants to be. Everyone knows she wants Hamlet so just let her go to him.
6.) Ophelia has great trust in her family but she needs to be careful because some times your family’s are the ones who put the wrong ideas in your head.

Scene Four

The play is moving towards a head game. Hamlet wishes to see for himself, if this is truly his fathers ghost. He heard all of these stories about it and went to see. So that night while waiting they see the ghost. The ghost was wearing his battle armoire. The ghost slowly walked towards them. The ghost wishes to speak with Hamlet, so he fallows. Horatio and Marcellus feeling it is there responsibility follow Hamlet.

3-Hamlet, why do you put so much trust into this figure? Do you really feel that this could be the ghost of your late father or could it be an evil trick? What if it betrays you in the end?

2- Hamlet is confused on what is going on. He wants everything back to order and wishes to know these questions he keeps asking himself. These questions are running in and out of his head. Some of these questions are how did his father die or who really killed him. Hamlet is ready to go all the way to find out everything.

Scene 5

1-Hamlet is away with the ghost. The ghost tells him that he must seek revenge for his murder. His very own Uncle/ the new King may have killed Old Hamlet. It was poison, mixed in his drink.

7- Hamlet finds out that the person who killed his father is making a mockery of him. I think he wants to kill his uncle, but doesn’t know how to go around it. At the same time, he doesn’t want to bring himself down.

6- Hamlet feels he is and putting a little too much trust in the ghost, his father. He doesn’t know weather or not t believe the ghost when he speaks to Hamlet.
Quote: “Speak. I am bond to hear.” Page 55 line 7

5- Hamlet so badly wants to know everything that happened. Without this part in the book or play, it would soon be over. I’m sure the ghost has more information to tell.

Act II

Scene I:

2. I think the significance of this scene is how Polonius talks about how Hamlet is crazy. He talks about how mad and obsessed with Ophelia he is. He wants to prove to the King and Queen how mad he is, he tells them he has never deceived them before he wasn’t going to start now. This scene wouldn’t show how Polonius’ true feelings are towards Hamlet if it wasn’t in the scene.

3. What does Reynoldo have to do with this scene? Is he against or for Hamlet?

4. “And, in part, him but.” “not well. But ift be he I mean, he’s very wild, addicted so and so”- Polonius. I think that this line is so-called neat, because I like the choice of words Shakespeare uses. It is saying that Hamlet is addicted to love for Ophelia. Polonius knows this and doesn’t like it.

Scene II:

5. I think Hamlet knows that Polonius is setting him up. Just because he acts like he’s crazy doesn’t mean he is. I think Hamlet is perfectly sane, and is very smart. He is putting on an act, acting like he’s mad, but he know what he is doing. It’s all a game to him.

6. Polonius doesn’t like Hamlet and Hamlet already knows that. Hamlet is rambling on to make Polonius think he is crazy. Polonius and Hamlet are sort of having a battle, but only with words. They will not admit to each other or others that they do not like each other though.

7. Pretty much Hamlet is saying to himself, “What do you think I am? Stupid!” Hamlet is very smart and is very observant of what is going on. The people around him are underestimating Hamlet.
Act 3 Scene 2

1-During this scene there is another play inside of this play. During this play the young Hamlet has the actors read what he has written the night before. Many people show for this. During the play family kills the King. When this happened Claudius yells and stops the play. Horatio and Hamlet find that this proves their thoughts. Before the King stops the play Hamlet teases Ophelia sexually during it.

3- Ophelia, did you realize that Hamlet was throwing out these secret messages to you? I know that it was hard to pick up but I feel that this shows that Hamlet has true feelings for you. Do you agree with this? Also you should keep your guard up these next few scenes.

6- You again see the friendship that Hamlet has for Horatio. During this scene Hamlet turns to see the one person whom he want trust. I say the only person because in the last few scenes we have noticed that Claudius has brought off other close friends. Hopefully Horatio can keep Hamlet under control considering he is making it more apparent that he knows what has happened to his father.

5- The way that Claudius reacted during the play shows that he has something on his mind that is making him feel guilty. If he did not feel that Hamlet was trying to tell him something then why would he stop the play and for second saying that Hamlet would be sent off to England. Why, oh why would that be?

7- Hamlet, Finally I will be able to show that there is more to my craziness than meats the eye. I am also keeping up with the act that I am crazy. This was hard because I did not want to many people to understand even though I felt it was obvious. I am hoping that Claudius will know that I am coming for him and that he should admit his sins.

Scene 3

1- As this scene begins the King becomes more frightened because of the play. He tells the two guys that they will escort Hamlet back to England here soon. As this is when Claudius tries to confess his sins. For the guilt is now getting to him. While confessing Hamlet walks into the room where he is preparing to kill the murder of his father. Hamlet is unable to kill him because the man is trying to make his soul better. Instead he leaves and goes to his waiting mother’s.

5- The passion that Claudius is feeling is starting to show. He spends the night asking for forgiveness.
Page 165 “Forgive me my foul murder?”….. “My crown, mine own Ambitions, and my Queen.”
This means that the play got Claudius thinking of the consequences and the facts of life. I feel that he knows that his time as king will soon diminish.

7- The thing I wish to do the most is to kill the man whom killed my father, but I have been unable to do such a thing. I was going to tonight but when I walked into the chamber he was kneeling down asking for forgiveness. If I took his life then I would be leaving his soul up and unfinished. I don’t think I will be able to handle that. I feel that Hamlet is trying to do the right thing but is also kind of enjoying the fact that everyone thinks he is crazy.

2- As it shall continue on a king admits his murders sins and a son holds back on the desirer of killing not only family but the person who has stripped the life from his fathers body. With out this scene many people would not be able to see the control Hamlet has. Not only his control the control Claudius has while having this sin on his heart and not breathing a word of it. They are both people who have plan in life and there will be only one winner.

Scene 4

1-Hamlet goes to see his mother after the want for his stepfather’s murder. During this time the Queen was talking to Polonius, he told the Queen that he would wait behind the curtains until Hamlet has left. In comes Hamlet to speak with his mother. During this she becomes scared because of Hamlets temper. She cries help and Polonius moves. Thinking it was Claudius, Hamlet strikes a blow into the figure. When Hamlet speaks of killing the King the Queen responses by telling him who the really murdered person was. Hamlet tells his mother that she is immoral and soon the ghost of the late King arrives. He reminds Hamlet that he must still kill Claudius. Hamlet also informs his mother that he is not crazy but it was an act that he had to put on.

3- Queen, Do you feel that you son is telling you the truth? Do you feel that he is not crazy and the person you have been making love to these past few months was responsible for you husbands’ death? I am hoping that you take into consideration that your son has been though a lot and there is more to you new husband then meats the eyes.

4- Hamlet tells his mother that the loved uncle-father is, “A murderer and a villain.” (page 177 line 99). With this it shows in simple English the way that Hamlet feels about what has happened. He is trying to get his mother to believe what he is trying to say. In many ways I feel these words are strong because Hamlet is being very sure about what he knows.

6- Hamlet and his mother become much closer to one another. This is one of the first conversations that we are allow to here them speak. I have a feeling that the Queen wants to believe her son but the facts of her losing her royalty is scaring her as well. There is still and uneasiness between them because of her unfairness to the late king but I feel before either of them pass away they will clear matters but. I guess it just the way they speak to each other. After she realized Hamlet was not going to kill her things calmed down.

Scene 4-5
Act 3

Scene 1

1- In this scene many things are cleared up. Giuldenstern and Rosencrantz informed the majesties that they could not find the reason for Hamlets sorrow but there was this passion that was inside of him. Then Polonius and the King had Ophelia wait for Hamlet. There they wanted Hamlet to confess his love for her hoping that the reason for his sorrow will then be solved. This was not true for Hamlet said he once loved her but now she should go to the nunnery. When Hamlet left the King said that here soon Hamlet will be sent to England in hopes to cure him.

3- Hamlet. Why are you putting on this act? The act I am speaking of is the one that you do not love Ophelia. I am sure that you have these crazy feelings for her but I am also sure that you have a plan, but what is it?

7- I feel bad that Ophelia is being mixed into all of this. I am sure she really loves him but all she wants is to follow her fathers orders. Then Hamlet is sitting there sending these mixed signs at her. I mean what is she suppose to think? Who is really looking out for the young lady?

5- What was Hamlet thinking when he sat there and told Ophelia that he once loved her but no more. He spoke to her like she had been playing with his heart and his mind so now it is his turn. Also I feel that Hamlet is starting to believe that nothing good is coming to this world. I say this because he was thinking about death and its meaning before talking to Ophelia.
