Act four and Five
Act four

4-As mad as the sea and the wind they brawl tp prove which is the mightier- actually I don’t like this quote just the fact that Hamlet’s mother is phony and a liar. She said she would not say anything, but she still does, even narking out her own son.

6- The relationship between the queen and the king obviously must be good if she tells her own son to her. Yet I thought that she understood about what her and Hamlet discussed, but by the way she already is towards the king. I think there is going to be no difference in what they talk about.

7- If I was the queen in this scene there would be no way that I would be able to tell on my own son. No mater what he did. I really do think it was very wrong of her. If I ws Hamlet I would be very upset at her.

Scene 2
2-Hamlet still refers to the king as a thing. I think it is significant because it is great that her refers to him as a thing because he really deserves it. In my opinion I really don’t think that he should even be called a king.

4- Just as well satire is wasted on idiots- Hamlet. I like that quote just because it fits him. Rosencrantz- Do you regard me as a sponge, my lord? Things they say are great. Then the rest of the words get mixed up because they speak about the king as a thing.

5- I feel that Hamlet just does not care anymore. I mean obviously his friends are never going to be there for him, dead father, killed a guy, and lost the love of his life. This is so important because you know that he may still have a plan because why would he go see the King if it was to be killed. The reader gets a more inside look on what they feel Hamlet is trying to do.

Scene 3
2- Hamlet- my mother! Father and mother is man and wife, and man and wife is one flesh. Therfore my mother comes on now, to England. I think that this sentence is significant to this scene because Hamlet is leaving to go to England and says good bye to his mother.

4- Rosencrantx- we can’t get him to say where he’s putting the dead body. I think this one because Hamlet has told them where the body was, they just don’t understand.

7- If I were Hamlet in this scene I would probably do the same thing as he did. Which was not give the answer to where the body really was. I would just mess with there heads and give them hints.

Scene four
2- Hamlet- Oh, from now on my thoughts must concentrate on vengeance, or they’ve unworthy- I think this sentence is significant in this scene because Hamlet is talking about willing to fight for England and is anything that he is going to give everything that he has.
4- Hamlet- After all, I have the motive, the determination, the strength and the means to do it- I like this because he makes me think that he’s pretty much willing to do anything no matter what. Hamlet- I have a father who has been murdered, a mother who has been defiled and motives inspired both by reason and passion.
7- If I was Hamlet in this scene I would do the same and help out with the wart that they are having. I really like the way Hamlet speaks.

Scene 5
1- Ophelia comes and talks to the king and queen, well actually she does not really talk to them, she just continues to sing about everything. When she sang it was mostly something to do with her father and his death.
Scene 6

1- In this scene things begin to lead up to the climax. Horatio receives a letter from Hamlet saying that his boat had been captured and they brought Hamlet back. He will be returning to Denmark soon. Sailor that brought this message to Horatio are then taken to speak with the king and queen. Horatio is then sent to find the Prince Hamlet whom is in the outskirts of the countryside.

3- Why is it that the sailors were already back in the castle but Hamlet was not? I mean they must have traveled from the same spot, wouldn’t Hamlet be with them. is this part of the plan to have Hamlet make a dramatic entry into the castle? I was hoping that you could tell me.

5- I feel that Horatio is now trying to figure out what things Hamlet is thinking. I mean he saw Hamlet in his own opinion going crazy, now I feel that Hamlet is going to try revenging his father or he knows that Hamlet will be killed himself. So he is confused because he does not know were he should help his dear friend by telling him to stay away or if he should allow his friend to come and see what happens.
Scene 7

1- In this scene Horatio, King and Leates discuses why it is that Hamlet is still alive. The king says it is because it would be so hard for the Queen to see another person die. But then they receive news that Hamlet will be returning tomorrow. Leates wants revenge on Hamlet so badly. Him and the king begin to plan how they can kill Hamlet with out looking so suspicious. They come to a plan that if they can get Hamlet to fight Leates in a sword battle then Hamlet will be slain. If for some reason Hamlet wins they will drink to his victory and as he drinks he will be poisoned. The blade that is beginning used will also has poison on it so that Hamlet will be harmed no matter what. While they are planning this they receive news that Ophelia has drowned in the river. They believe that because of the things going on in her life she killed herself.

2- Between the planning of murder of Hamlet and the death of Ophelia you get the picture that these people are not satisfied with all the death that has come about, they only want more just so they feel better about what they have done. With out this scene you would not get a true idea of what kind of people they all are turning into. Every person wants revenge for what has happened but there is no true winner.

6- As leates and Claudius are talking about what is going on you find that Claudius is starting to push Leates more and more to kill Hamlet. I mean you know that he has some hatred for Hamlet because of his father but you also see that Claudius is trying to have his matters taken care of at the same time. Only this way Claudius while not be responsible for anything. Leates is just another pone that while be used for the kings own good.

7-Leates, I feel sorry for him because he has so many emotions running around his head right now. There are different directions in which he could go but which one is the right one. He is also being pushed by this king whom is only looking out for his own ass and then another close member of his family passes away, what is he suppose to do? He must also think that the only reason this happened to his sister was because Hamlet one broke her heart and second he killed the one person she had other than her brother.

Act V Scene I

6. Laertes is very mad at the priest because he won’t give Ophelia a full service. The priest won’t give her a full service because he believes Ophelia committed suicide. This makes Laertes very angry and upset.

7. I feel bad for Hamlet because he lost the one he loves now. He is really going to grow insane in his head. First he loses his father to murder, then his mother marries his uncle (the man who killed his father) after only 2 months of his father’s death, then he kills Polonius (which is the father of his true love), then he loses Ophelia (his one true love), poor guy. It seems as if the bad news never ends for him.
1. A gravedigger is making a grave for Ophelia, and the priest won’t give her a full service because he thinks she committed suicide. Laertes loses his father. Now his sister is dead too. Everyone is just kind of in shock at all the things that have been going on. It’s all really confusing.
Scene 2

1- In the last scene of the book you find yourself feeling sorry for everyone but also seeing the irony of everything. I mean Hamlet informs Horatio of what he has done. By that I mean how he changed the letter that was sent to the king telling him not to kill Hamlet but to kill the messengers instead. These were Rosencractz and Golderstern.  Soon after a messenger comes to tell Hamlet that a duel was set up for Leartes and Hamlet. Hamlet goes even though Horatio ask him not to go. When Hamlet arrives he turns to Leartes and ask for forgiveness. He was mad at the time of his father’s death. The next thing that happened was they start the duel. There was a change in the rules; after one person struck the other they could drink in celebration.  Hamlet was able to get the first stick in but decided not to drink. Hamlet then gets the second hit but does not drink again. Instead his mother the queen drinks from a poisoned cup. Leartes starts to feel bad for the sword be poisoned but continues on. He finally strikes Hamlet and cuts him. During all of this they switch swords on accident. Next Hamlet cuts into Leartes. Leartes finds himself realizing that he will die from his own poison. The queen also falls dieing because of the drink. Before she dies she yells that the King poisoned the cut and Leartes says the King poisoned the sword. Hamlet out of rage demands that Claudius drinks the rest of the wine. Before Hamlet dies Leartes and him forgive each other. In the end Fortinbras comes and takes over the castle. The only person left from his was Horation.

2- This scene is nothing but irony. You find yourself in a place where people are all left killed because of greed, betrayal and revenge. Each one of those people committed some kind of problem with each other. This just happened to be how they all got repaid for what they have done.

3- Why is it that the more popular plays that Shakespeare wrote all end in dead/tragedy?
Or at least all the books that the high school students are suppose to read end all sad. I feel that we can handle this but there are very morbid things that gone on.

4- Line’s 312-334 page283
This whole section is one of the most important parts in the book. You find a man whom was killed with his own weapon, a queen whom has been killed by the poison meant for Hamlet and you find that everyone dies because of each other or mainly the King. It was an unnecessary situation but with words like, “I was just killed with my own treachery,” and “Here, thou incestuous, murderous, damned,” you find that all the truth has come out. But just to late.

5- The reaction the queen had when she finally fell was amazing. I guess you can find your own conclusion but I feel that she was realizing that this man, her husband just killed her. I felt that she realized what was really going on and what her Ex-Husband had to be feeling as he was killed by some one whom he loved.
6- You find that in the end Leartes and Hamlet come to common truths. The same man may have because they were both dieing or because they realize that they were both used it. It was cool that they went out with a clear understanding of each other.

7- Hamlet- He was finally able to get revenge on Claudius. Yes it cost him his life and so many others but he can now die with the feeling that he saved his father’s soul. I am sure it would have been better if Hamlet had killed Claudius earlier but in the end everyone got what he or she disserve. It is just irony.
