Rachel Viquiera has been involved with the community since childhood. She has represented our Pilipino Community of Hamilton at various functions locally and in surrounding cities. As an active member of Club Novo Ecijanos of Hamilton , she is their youth representative to the HFC. Rachel has her own dance school, The Wahine Dance Company and teaches hula dancing in addition to folk dancing and choreographs dances for several debutants. Rachel proudly supports the Pilipino school in Hamilton that she attended as a child and is now supply teacher there. Her mission is to educate Filipino youth about their culture through folk dancing. She believes we can preserve our history through traditional music and dance. By promoting our diverse cultural heritage, she hopes Filipino-Canadians will gain appreciation and understanding of their roots. She is forming a Pilipino dance group in Hamilton .
