From city to countryside
To the west of the school, beyond the car park, lies an expanse of long-neglected grassland and woodland.

Formerly cultivated gardens and playing fields, this area is abundant with flowers as well as grasses, sedges, rushes and ferns.

The surfaced road extends for a hundred yards or so, then turns left to a dead-end (providing emergency access to the railway which forms the southern boundary of the site).
