Professor Tomex Irev

Basic Statistics-
Age: 63
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Homeworld: Corellia
Ship: Seldon
Appearance-
Tomex is a tall man who is usually dressed in comfortable clothing. Like most scientists at the think-tank, he wears a white lab coat while working. He is starting to lose his brown hair and has a receding hairline. His eyes are a soft amber.
Brief History-
Tomexs family worked for the Corellian Engineering Corporation (CEC) and were, by all accounts, quite good at what they did. An only child, Tomex was encouraged by his father to take up the family trade. At an early age, Tomex was known for drawing up crude blueprints for droids and starships. The surprising thing about this is that, while rudimentary, the blueprints could be made to work.

From these roots, Tomex only got better as he grew older, went through school, and signed on to work for CEC. Throughout it all, Tomex displayed an inherent ability to design workable starships and a sixth sense about how best to manipulate energy sources to get the most out the generators placed within his designs. Given this sixth sense, Tomex could have made a great weapons engineer, but he ardently refused to have anything to do projects whose only purpose would be for killing.

Because of this he soon left CEC, which had its hands in the military market, and took up a job offer for Cybot Galactica, the protocol droid manufacturer. He worked contently there for several years before finally being contacted by a well-known Arkanian scientist, named Sarca Koylir, to join her and several others for a think-tank dedicated to stopping the Jedi.

Tomex agreed, reluctantly. He wasnt too enthused to be working for the ever-increasing military machine that was the Empire, but he couldnt resist the chance to study the Force, perhaps the most mysterious energy field of all. He helped improve on the old Force detector designs as well as develop several non-lethal methods to capture Jedi. He even was the principle designer of the research ship, Seldon.

After years of faithful work, Tomex was one of the first to express outrage when Sarca announced that the Empire was planning on shutting down the think-tank without any warning. He was more outraged at the fact that the Empire had the gall to just shut down such an effective group, than the fact that he wouldnt be working for them anymore.

He was also one of the first to support Sarcas decision to jump the Seldon to an unknown location and follow the last command Kasr had given to her. For, over the years that he ended up working for Kasr, Tomex had found a certain amount of respect for the Grand Admiral who had always done his best to respect the whishes of the think-tank scientists. Kasr had never insisted that Tomex work on anything that was not morally appealing to him and had always seen to it that they had the resources that they needed.

His other bosses had not been nearly as understanding of their subordinates. It was with a certain amount of sadness that he watched Kasrs trial and, later, heard about his death. And then later, outrage again at the deception the Empire tried to pull off when Kasr managed to make contact with them even though he was supposed to be dead. It was at that point that he decided to throw in fully with Kasr, not wanting any part of the problems of the galaxy.

Since then, Tomex has been one of the most dedicated scientists in the think-tank and is often considered as a de-facto second in command to whoever is administrating the think-tank at the time. He is quite outspoken and wont hesitate to let others know when he sees a problem, even when proper conduct would indicate for him to keep his mouth shut.

Over the years of working closely with Sarca, she and him have formed a relationship that is the origin for many a rumor around the think-tank. Both maintain that it is nothing serious, but speculation continues to circulate despite this.

As he gets older, Tomex has found that the morals he stuck to so vehemently as a younger man are starting to fade. He no longer feels as strongly about not working on projects that are designed to kill, however he still avoids such areas when he can. He has, however, contributed to several new starship and starfighter designs that will be slated to become part of Oremin and the Laro Order.
