Apraxia
Apraxia is a neurological disorder, that causes the person to be unable to make the movements with the tongue and mouth, that are necessary for speech. Although the person may know what they want to say, the signal gets cut off between the brain and the mouth. Once a sound or word is memorized, the person can often continue to use that word more easily than before.

Also, once a word or sound is learned, they have to train the brain to locate that word. Often, the person will go through other words, in the attempt to get to the correct one.

This disorder is also known as the "tip of the tongue" disorder by therapists. The reason is because an apraxic person has the same problem we do when we say something is "on the tip of our tongue." We all have that happen...where you know what you want to say, but you just can't get it out. And the harder you try, the worse it gets. Well, that is how it is for Taehler 100% of the time. Can you imagine always having that problem?

Below are a couple of links to some additional information about Apraxia, also known as Dyspraxia. Taehler has only verbal/oral Apraxia, she does not have limb apraxia (just for your info when looking at the websites).
