Human Vehicles

The Warthog Easily the best-known vehicle, and generally considered the favorite among Halo fans, the Warthog is an all-terrain monster with an edge. Loaded with a powerful machine gun, an unending supply of ammo and a few marines with itchy trigger fingers, the Warthog is not to be taken lightly. In Halo 2, the Warthog comes in a few varieties, including one that has a gauss cannon in the back, which is perfect for vehicles and soldiers, alike. Unfortunately, the invisible ATV you used to know can now be blown up with a well placed rocket or a few grenades. So make sure you keep that fender clean and buckle your safety belt.

The Scorpion Tank Nothing makes you feel invincible quite like a tank. The Scorpion Battle Tank is a feared weapon, capable of firing massive, explosive rounds for taking out large groups of ground personnel or enemy artillery. It also features a secondary machine gun for close-range action, and can be a means of transport for up to a half-dozen marines. Nothing like reaching the enemy flag, only to meet face to face with this bad boy. As with the Warthog, though, be warned. The tank may make you feel invincible, but a few rockets will change that real quick.

The Dropship The mainstay of the human air brigade, the dropship is a soldier’s best friend as often it arrives toting some well-armed marines or mobile firepower. Watch for this bird to swoop in and save the day, when least expected, and prepare to hitch a ride if you ever need an airlift out of danger.

Covenant Vehicles

The Ghost This popular speeder returns once again to cause havoc for us land-dwellers. As is the case with all of Halo 2’s vehicles, the Ghost can also be blown to smithereens, but luckily it’s harder to do, thanks to its new boosters. A quick tug on the left trigger sends the ghost hurtling forward. Not only is it a great way to get out of trouble, but it’s also perfect for running down hapless enemies. The ion cannons ain’t too shabby, either.

The Banshee This is the only pilotable aircraft in Halo 2, but don’t let that get you down. The Banshee is a blast to fly and is great for taking out soldiers on the ground. Just be careful of rocket fire, as one shot will send you plummeting. But don’t think a rocket launcher means instant death. The Banshee is now capable of pulling barrel rolls and flips. Other than looking cool, there’s no better way to lose a rocket’s lock.

The Spectre Called the Warthog of the Covenant, this strange-looking APC can carry up to four soldiers, and despite its slower speed, it’s definitely better armored than the Warthog, which is nice. The turret in the back is a great place for one of your passengers, as it can help to take out nearby armor, aircraft and personnel.

The Wraith You might remember these guys from Halo. You know, the ones that lobbed ion balls of death in your general vicinity? Well, good news, ‘cause now you get to drive one. The ion balls remain the Wraith’s primary attack, but you can also pick up a few passengers to fill the gun turrets in the front, making this puppy a scary sight for the enemy.
