GBS in Rochester 2004
This show was a very different one for me. I really needed to go. I had spent the last two weeks with my class doing State and Terra Nova testing. Talk about stressful. Thank God we had GBS and Jim Fidler to calm us down musically and keep us going. Music soothes the savage beast.

This beast was a bit savage on Friday trying to rent a car. My Ira is aged and infirm these days, using 2 quarts of oil a week and Karen's Columbo is still stuck in Connecticut from the last roadtrip transmission disaster. After four tries, when I had already made a reservation that ended up being cancelled, I thought I wasnt even going to be able to go.  BJMoose took me out for a nice dinner and I was able to calm down and he helped me by offering our only working-good car to drive to Buffalo. I was concerned about actually getting there on time and getting there period. I left bright and early Saturday morning for the eight hour drive to Buffalo. Communicating with Andi along the way and expressing concern for time constraints and car safety, we hit upon Plan B which involved asking Sandy and Patti to bring Andi with them to Rochester, where we would meet up.

I must thank Sandy and Patti again for bringing Andi from Buffalo with them to Rochester. I would have taken much longer to get there and would have been a basketcase trying to be safe AND timely. They did a Good Samaritan deed and I am indebted to them for that and their companionship for the day. Good people there.

If you ever go to Rochester, go eat at the Dinosaur Barbeque Restaurant. OMG! What good food! We ate more than our fill and dropped andi off to wait in line. I knew it was a moot point for me to be there that early at the venue. I couldnt stand that long AND see the show. So I went back to the hotel with Sandy and Patti for a couple hours.

The line-up started with Andi and Mpulse very early - even before Lynda arrived. When I joined later, I brought donuts and Philly soft pretzels for the liner-uppers. It was rainy and chilly. The doors didnt open till 8:30. Very late. The line was down the block by then and everyone was eager to go inside. We waited with Kirstie, Lynda, Melissa and Stuart on the porch also. We met Sue, Art and Sam who were attending their first GBS show. Sue was surprised to hear I had been to 40+ shows. Obviously she hadnt met Lynda yet! LOL! She wondered why I would feel the need to go to 4 shows this time around. I told her shed understand once she saw them and I was right. And we met Shannon and her mother, Karen. It was Shannons second show, her Mom having seen them more. Shannon was jealous and couldnt wait to see Alan, her favorite. I know I have forgotten some people sorry the memory is not what it used to be. I had spent a few tense moments earlier in the day when I forgot Andi was holding my camera and I couldnt find it. Talk about frantic! My life is in my camera.

When we finally entered I got a spot Stage Bob, surprise! Andi, Shannon and Karen were stage Alan/Murray. Art, Sue and Sam joined me in Bob-land and Sandy and Patti ended up in the balcony. Next time thatll be my vantage point, I think.

The Pushstars were just fine with the GBS crowd. They played their instruments and the audience well. Chris is getting better talking to the audience. He still has a way to go though. Bring us in, Chris, we dont bite. Chris and Ryan sang a song as a duet, and Everything Shone in the Pushstars camp tonight. What a great rendition! I have to say I liked it better than GBSs version. And the audience sang along with anything they could. Great set, guys. Although I dont like the last song too loud for me.
