| GBS's Operetta Buffalo 2005 |
| Then the Operetta continued with Alan singing that they had more time to kill and they should do another song about pints and we should all beware of the
Old Black Rum! We didnt get that at Wolftrap and I missed it. I know they have to be well and truly sick of playing it. Its a most requested song however and they had fun with it tonight, Bob leading the way at the end with sixteen doubles for the price of oooooonnnnneeeee! Rant and Roar ended the Operetta and 10,000 people in Lafayette Square in Buffalo, New York were Newfoundlanders singing at the top of their lungs. Sean turned the mic around because we sounded so good! Everyone on that stage was smiling widely when the show ended. Alan lingered a few minutes, and disappeared backstage happy with the reaction of the crowd. And Kris made some young man's night when he handed him his drumsticks on the way off-stage.. |

| We had arranged to meet everyone on the corner after the show. The problem was, there were 4 corners to choose from. We finally got almost everyone together, breaking into a chorus of Old Black Rum. I yelled for Andi every once in a while but it was too loud and there were too many people and my foot was absolutely killing me. I was thankful I brought my Dads seat/cane with me. I needed it, believe me. I had sat for Stands set and was barely able to make it through GBSs without having to sit down. Standing on unlevel ground is not the best thing for my foot or knee, and I had one foot on the concrete and the other on the lawn all night.
With a lot of us gathered together, we took the obligatory photos. I got some people to do the station ID for Jim Fidlers Republic of Avalon Radio podcast and Columbine and I and some others sang the theme, Republic of Avalon Radio, Ba dum bum bum bum bum bum bumYoure with the ROAR! |
