| Some people were going to DArcys and some to Carols house for a BBQ. Since I couldnt find Andi, I couldnt commit to either and bid everyone adieu. I walked around yelling Andis name for a few minutes and then decided to walk to the car. When I got to the parking lot, Andi wasnt there. But I remembered that she had my cell phone and I asked the parking lot guy if I could call her. He gladly lent me his phone and I told her I was at the car. She said everyone was worried because I disappeared. I assured her I was fine. I am a city girl after all, and went across the street to get something for us to drink. Chatted with the parking attendant a bit. He said he thought it was the biggest crowd yet for the Lafayette Square shows and said hed try to catch them in the winter when they came back.
Andi arrived and we decided that we might want to go to Carols for the BBQ, but I had left all the phone numbers at Andis house, so we went over to DArcy McGees. Whoa! It was WAY too noisy and crowded for me. Wed never hear anyone inside if we could even GET inside! So we went back toward Andis and stopped in Pizza Hut for a pizza. I didnt realize how much my foot was hurting until I tried to get out of the car and walk into the restaurant. Boy, was I happy to sit down in the air conditioning! We went home and stayed up talking till 1:30AM. Then it was bedtime. Andi woke up before I did in the morning. That was a first! We went out for crepes and then Andi took me to Vidlers 5 and 10 Cent Store in East Aurora. What an experience. ANYTHING you could ever want is here. ANYTHING! Spent some of my hard-earned dough and drove back After Vidlers, we came back for a fiddle lesson. She and I went to the Gaelic College for a couple years in the summer to learn Cape Breton fiddle. She wanted to learn Bobs fiddle part to Im A Rover. SO I wrote down the notation for her and we went through it. I left her with Bobs advice for beginning fiddlers when I asked him in Massachusetts, You gotta practice, practice, practice! She pointed the way to the New York State Thruway and went to visit her brother in the hospital. I had a fun ride home. NOT! The car was acting weird and I wondered for a while whether Id end up spending the night in a hotel and waiting for the car to be repaired. But we limped home, blasting the good Newfoundland/Cape Breton music in the CD player, trying to cover up the noises and vibrations. I made it before midnight, too! Anne here, reporting for roadtrip duty! Any shows nearby? |
