Alan's Operetta Ends
Buffalo 2005
The dits and dahs of Ordinary Day could barely be heard over the roaring of the crowd. My heart sinks a little every time I hear this because I know its the last song. On the other hand I knew this crowd would not let them go without an encore, so I felt okay about it.

After all, it IS my favorite GBS song, the one I heard first in Cape Breton in 1997. The one that started this new life of mine. Ive been much more adventuresome and confident of what I can do since I was introduced to GBSs music. Ive made new friends on two continents and seven countries and gone places I never thought Id go to.

I guess I can thank
Ordinary Day for that. It was the tiny acorn that grew into a big oak.

Encore:

They didnt stay off stage for long and came bounding back with
Excursion. I watched the crowd more than the stage for this one. It was an amazing sea of pumped fists for this and Helmethead earlier in the evening. Kris came out to wander about and worry the others during Excursion. What a devil!
Fortune followed on its heels as it has been for a while. I love this tune in a live setting. It was okay on the CD, but live it just kicks it up a notch. Bob was truly a wonder on the fiddle and the accordion tonight and got a Well done, Bob! from Alan tonight at the end.
