Great Big Sea
at the Avalon 2004
John Barbour was next and I have to agree with Lynda about its placement. Maybe it needs to be moved down a song or two on the setlist. The Boston crowd was not really into anything that was slow tonight. Any time the bys sang a slow one, there was an awful lot of talking. Kriss drums are so much a part of what makes this song work for me. Alans pounding on the electric bouzouki makes the last verse too.
I explained to Chandra that the next song along with Sea of No Cares was my theme song from January to July last year. SO much fun! That would be Consequence Free. I have wanted to do that several times in my lifetime be consequence free but generally I dont think itd be a good idea.

Mari Mac came next but I hate the vocals on this one lately. The instruments are turned up way too loud and the mics not enough. Sans vocals were just swallowed up by the instruments, especially in the last verse.
Ordinary Day was a fitting closer and everyone in the audience joined Alan and the bys. We sang several choruses by ourselves and Alan lingered for a longer time than usual on stage after everyone had walked off. San exited stage Bob to join his girlfriend, I guess. Everyone else went backstage and waited a good long time to come out. We cheered for them for quite a while.

Alan came out alone, as I was hoping, and did
Boston and St. Johns. Nice, very nice, a more fitting song could not be sung here.

Excursion was fun and harmonious with Bobs mic still turned way up.

And during
Feller From Fortune, San was very dancey and ended up kicking Bob in the butt! Sorry I didnt get a photo of that!
