"Soul Alone"
I remember kicking back on a warm, late, summer night in '94 and
listening to "Soul Alone" for the first time.  I was in awe because
this album was such a departure from Daryl's previous solo work.  I
played it again and again...

"Soul Alone" is a very smooth, seductive, and sophisticated album.  It
runs the gamut of love and emotion, defying the listener not to feel,
not to move to the primal rhythm of the music. The lush string
arrangements and percussion weaves a rich tapestry of jazz, blues,
and soul.  Daryl Hall, the consummate Philly Soul Singer, left me
wanting more of his brand of smooth jazz 'n soul.  I believe he has
found his niche as a solo artist.

Power Of Seduction:
"Baby you can never do to much, only you, you make the senses all
rush."

A blend of jazz and soul, and done so smoothly that is is seamless.
The blending of strings, overlaid with a strong bass beat, makes the
song flow.  Funky jazz 'n soul makes it impossible to sit still while
listening to it...Daryl's vocal's were never better.

Love Revelation:
"You know what my weakness is, make me a little bit stronger."

One of my favorite tracks...this one is so funky and I like the
backing vocals on this; "Freedom what I want", and the brief piano
solo.

"Philly Mood":
"Lay down your love, I can feel your soul..."
"Philadelphia, heartache and romance..."

The lyrics alone make me like this song.

"Borderline":
Love the bass, piano and flute on this one and the way it segues
into...

"Stop Loving Me, Stop Loving You"
Strings and percussion makes it so smooth sounding

"Send Me":
"Send me your grove, send me your velvet mood"

I like this one because it has such a jazz flavor to it.  Daryl does
a fantastic live version of this one.

"Written In Stone":

"Won't you walk with me? Our love, it'll last forever."

From the first time I heard this song, it was and remains my favorite
album cut.  Poignant, moving and the percussion at the end...Daryl's
last collaboration with Janna Allen...Dary's vocal and Janna's song.
What a beautiful and fitting tribute.

"I Finally See The Light":

"Living in a fools paradise, looking everywhere but in your eyes."
" I see you baby, I finally see the light."

It's unfortunate that this song didn't make it onto the U.S. version.
