1955 - The year of beginnings. Disneyland opened as the rock and roll explosion took place with a hit by Bill Haley called "Rock Around the Clock"

1956- Three Elvis Presley hits with "Heartbreak Hotel", "Don't Be Cruel" and "Hound Dog".

1957- The "Barbie Doll" was introduced. Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry hit the charts.

1958 - Alan Freed was the top rock and roll D.J. and Buddy Holly was new on the scene.

1959- A dark year with the plane deaths of Buddy Holly,Richie Valens and the Big Bopper.

1960- The year of "The Twist" The big names included the Drifters and Ben.E.King.

1961- The year of "Westside Story" and a young Neil Sedaka.

1962- Bobby Vinton's first hit with "Roses Are Red".Also there was Gene Pitney and Bobby Vee.

1963- The beginnings of Motown and The Chiffons,Lesley Gore & The Kingsmen.

1964- It bought the Beatles to America and rock and roll was never the same again.

1965- Sonny and Cher La Pierre were young and British invasion was into it's 2nd year.

1966- The big names were Peter,Paul & Mary,Joan Baez and Melanie Safka.

1967- The Flower People in San Francisco and The monkees escaped.

1968- Otis Redding was recording and died shortly afterwards.

1969- Nel Armstrong walked on the moon on July 20th and it was the year of "Woodstock".

1970- David Cassidy was a hit and there were the Carpenters and B.B. King.

1971- Van Morrison fronted Them and there was Three Dog Night and Cat Stevens.

1972- "The Godfather" offered movie goers what they couldn't refuse.

1973- The Vietnam War ended and Peter Hale got his first fulltime on-air radio gig at 2DU.

1974- There was "Watergate" and rock and roll Tv with "Happy Days" and "American Graffitti".

1975- The 10CC hit "I'm Not In Love" and other stars were David Bowie and The Eagles.

1976- Parents hated Elvis Presley,Beatles and Alice Cooper.

1977- The Fleetwood Mac Attack and their album "Tusk".

1978- The big names include Bruce (Boss) Springsteen and Billy Joel.

1979- Disco was king and there was Blondie and Cheap Trick.

1980- Starwars takes off at the cinemas and the death of John Lennon.......
