Cho Hakkai's past
before I begin...
and so it begins...
Cho Gono was initially a school teacher, living happily with his girlfriend, also known as his older sister, Kanna. Of course, they loved each other.
This took place before the youkai incident.
the kidnapping
Kanna was kidnapped by the Hundred-Eye demon as a sacrifice to feed his family.
That afternoon, Hakkai had wanted Kanna to follow him to the school where he taught, but she declined, saying that she had some sewing to finish. So, Hakkai left without her.
However, when he returned later that afternoon, he found the house in a mess. He then realised that Kanna had been kidnapped. The villagers all claimed that they had tried to stop the youkais, then said that if they had struck back, they would have been killed.
So, Hakkai was determined to go and save Kanna.
the massacre
Armed only with a dagger and his wits, Hakkai proceeded to the castle to rescue his girlfriend. In his anger, he unconciously killed all thousand youkais in the castle, and finally reached Kanna.
However, she had already been raped by the Hundred-Eye demon, and told Hakkai that she was carrying "that creature's son". With that, she lifted up her dagger and killed herself.
Although Hakkai had killed one thousand demons, Chin Il Sou (yeah, that pervert. Remember him? If you don't, click here.)
was still alive and kicking. He had sneaked behind Hakkai and was about to attack him, but Hakkai spun round and kicked him. (Yeah! Hakkai kicks ass!) He then went on sputtering about the legend where when a human kills a thousand demons, he will become a demon himself. Hakkai, already enflamed, kills Chin Il Sou. (This story continues, but I won't tell here. ^^)
the eye : part I
Injured and depressed, Hakkai escaped from the castle. He fainted in the woods nearby, and Gojyo found him. (Yes! Gojyo.)
Meanwhile, Sanzo was asked to capture Cho Gono on the account that he had killed a thousand demons. So, Goku followed Sanzo, and they went searching for Hakkai.
Hakkai was recovering over at Gojyo's place, and this was creating several rumours in the village nearby. Sanzo heard them of course, and decided to look for Gojyo.
The confrontation occured at night. Sanzo knocked on Gojyo's door, asking about Hakkai. Gojyo replied negative, but of course Sanzo didn't believe. He forced Hakkai out, and a small fight took place. Goku kicked Hakkai, but as Sanzo's gun was on the ground within his reach, Hakkai grabbed it and aimed at Goku. Goku stopped, and Hakkai ran.
the eye : part II
Hakkai was limping from the kick Goku had given him. (Man, Goku does not realise his own strength...) And yes, he still had the gun. One of the survivors from the Thousand-Eye demon episode caught up with Hakkai, and threatened to kill him. (The cool part now, yeah!) Hakkai, not nice guy anymore, said, "Fine, take not only my arm, but both my eyes as well." And with that he started digging his right eyeball out. (I don't think the word is "digging".. hmm... don't know! XD) Suddenly, Goku appeared out of nowhere and landed on Hakkai's head, stopping him. Sanzo took back his gun, and made little work of the youkai. He then offered to bring Hakkai back to the castle, to bury Kanna.
the eye : part III
By the time they reached the site, the entire castle was no longer there. It had been burned down a few days after the massacre. Hakkai was disappointed. He couldn't save her, not even once.
Gojyo asked Sanzo to chant a few sutras for the dead, but Sanzo said he chants sutras for the living not the dead. (haha... *snicker*) So, he sat down and started chanting.
A few days later, Sanzo, Goku and Hakkai reach Chang An, where Hakkai will receive his sentence. His hands were bound in chains.
Later, Hakkai and Gojyo visit Sanzo and Goku at Chang An, and Hakkai tells them his new name. He was to start life over, leaving behind the name "Cho Gono".
Note! There's actually a lot more to this story. (Yep, Gojyo and Hakkai yaoi implication.) A lot more was said and done, but I don't really remember it all now...
