| Part Three Angels name was on the list so she and her three-person entourage were granted immediate entry. She thanked God Joseph was always so cool to her and walked through an arched doorway with glass windows to get inside the club. Steve Barbell has really done it this time, she thought as she stared, slack-jawed, at the interior of The Club. At the entrance was a small room where some people were playing billiards. Then there was the bar, which was nothing spectacular, although it had a nice wooded table top that Angel would have put in her own home. What amazed her was the dance floor. It was huge. And not just huge but HUGE. There were so many people up on the raised platform dancing, sweaty bodies moving in time to the house beats. Natalie pushed Angel to get her moving. Angel had just stood there, taking in the scene. What do you want to do? She mouthed to Angel. Angel pointed to the bar and Natalie grinned and nodded. The girls went and sat down at a small table while Jamie went to get them their drinks. He came back a few minutes later with Angels Strawberry Daiquiri, Jades Pia Colada, and Natalies Sex On The Beach. He had gotten himself a Bend Me Over, a drink he liked simply because of what it was called. The foursome sat, quietly sipping their drinks. So far, they hadnt seen anyone or anything impressive, besides for that huge dance floor. Angel felt bored actually, until she saw Joseph talking to a man in a gray suit. She decided to go say hi. Mr. Hopkins, how nice to see you out of the office! Angel exclaimed as she gave Joseph a warm smile and a handshake. He gave her a wide grin. Well, Miss Alley, its good to see you up and at em again. He had found out about Angel and Samuels break up when he walked in on Angel sobbing at her desk. She was like the daughter he never had; he had taken her under his wing and it pained him to see his brightest star hurting so badly. But you know better than to call me Mr. Hopkins. He and the man he was talking to laughed. Angel flushed and grinned. I was only trying to make you feel important, Joseph. Joseph laughed loudly. There you go, Angel. The feistiness has returned. Angel, meet Steve Barbell. Steve, this is the one I had just been raving about, Angel Alley. They shook hands. Joseph continued. You know, Steve, Angel is single-handedly responsible for Eminems comeback. Steve looked at Angel in mock anger. So that was you, huh? They all shared a laugh. Angel decided to excuse herself, as it was obvious they wanted to continue talking business. I guess Ill catch you later, Joseph. And it was nice meeting you, Steve. She waved and turned to leave. As she walked away, she could hear Steve telling Joseph how nice she was. Angel smiled to herself but the smile faded as she slipped on something, a spilled drink most likely, and she felt herself losing balance and falling falling She closed her eyes and braced herself for the pain that would come as she hit the floor. She felt something in her ankle twist and she cried out. However, she never hit the ground. Someone had caught her. She opened her eyes and found herself staring at the most beautiful man she had ever seen. She closed her eyes again and prayed it was some kind of dream and not real. |
