year Mechanical Design & Prod. Dept.)
Academic Year 2001/2002 (First and Second Term)
1- Contents:
The course covers the topics concerning the design
process, design theory and methodologies, design of springs (Helical, and leaf),
design of shafts, design of gears (spur, helical, and bevel), design of Belts,
chains, and wire ropes, design of clutches and brakes. Simultaneously the
problems of designing anti-friction ball and roller bearings, and journal
bearings are also studied. Students are asked to submit group projects of
designing complete machines or systems using the studied elements. Group
presentations of projects, oral and written exams as well as individual progress marks are taken into
consideration for the course grading.
