Megan's Sailboat!
It really sails! Click here for photos!
We learned the YMCA Sailing group was selling various boats (just the hulls) to raise money for their activities.  So we went to check what they had in hopes of finding a decent  Sunfish.  Well, we found four Sunfish each stored upside down (thankfully) but all had been neglected for many years.

After pulling several out for inspection we settled on the one shown here.  The photo just doesn't show how dirty the boat really was - trust us!  Also, not visible because of the grunge are two American Red Cross stickers on each side of the boat!
To begin with we removed the Oklahoma state permit stickers to learn the true hull color.  Can we really get the whole boat back to that pretty cream color?
We found these American Red Cross stickers while washing the boat.  Appearently the YMCA acquired this boat from the Red Cross and rather than removing the stickers they just spray painted over them with white paint.  Before the stickers could be removed we had to remove the paint that had sealed them on.  Each label was wet sanded with 320 grit sand paper to remove the paint.

Then each label was carefully scraped off, piece by piece.  Here the sticker with the words "American Red Cross" has already been removed while work continues to remove the cross sticker.  Notice how clean the hull is!
