" Hobies - Don't fear the speed, fear the addiction!"
Congratulations to Corey and Jeff - They won the Mad Dog and Englishmen Regatta at Lake Hefner on their Hobie against some very stiff competition in August.  They went in to the fifth race tied for first place  against another Hobie 16 crew.  Jeff and Corey pulled out the win when the other Hobie (just feet away from them) blew a final tack on the wind shift just 100 yards from the finish .  Jeff & Corey were able to complete their tack on the wind shift and pull away for a straight run to the finish line.  Great racing!

Thanks to Central Oklahoma Sailing Association for host a wonderful regatta!

What?  No wind in Oklahoma?!

Arrival with the crew.  Jeff at the tiller,Megan crew, Corey and the starboard bow and Tyler on the port bow.
While others are out sailing Corey enjoys the only sand beach on Lake Hefner.
We sail from the beautiful South Shore of Lake Hefner, Hobie Point.  Access from the South Lake Hefner Drive, 1/8 mile West of Stars & Stripes Park. Follow the winding gravel road.

(2004 Hobie Worlds)
I found this old image on the Hobie site and wanted to share it with you - Does anyone remember a TV commercial with this boat?  "It's Miller Time" circa 1980.  I even have a wallposter of this same photo.  Hobie also produced a short video highlighting the making of the Miller commercial with this boat.

Sure - Cats can fly!
