A Note from the Coach about the Game
To Arsenal -  Well it's been [several] weeks since the big game. I've been writing down things I remember about the game off and on for several weeks and here it goes:
Two things I'll always remember didn't even happen on the field (1). I think it was midway thru the first half and I started to sub. Someone yelled, "Mary Needs Out!" I looked up and Mary was waiving her hand and I subbed her out?? Thought she must be hurt? She came off the field and sat down on the bench. Now, please understand their second best player was Mary's player. I walked up to her and asked if she was alright
She said she was OK, just tired. WELL, I proceeded in my usual low level way to inform her she was one of the faster players on this team and one of the better conditioned players on this team, we were playing a championship game, her team needed her on the field, what was she doing coming out of the game etc., etc., and etc. Told her she had 7-8 minutes, get some water and I walked away to pace the sideline and yell at someone else. Maybe two minutes had passed and next thing I know Mary is standing beside me saying "I'm ready to go back in". MY TYPE OF TEAMATE-YOU HAVE MY RESPECT. Mary was all over their Midfielder, notice how many balls Jessica got, it was Mary shutting down the sideline. Made the longest run for a ball I've ever seen her do, got the ball and took it down and crossed it in. Great, great hustle. Great offense, great defense for a tired person???????

(2). After the game I'm congratulating everyone. I said to Amanda "YOU PLAYED A GREAT GAME AND HELD ON AND PLAYED HARD AT THE END", SHE REPLIED "l DID, DIDN'T I, I THINK THE RUNNING PRACTICE WORKED". Scored a critical goal, played the entire game, turned their sweeper 180 degrees one way and 180 degrees the other way and got a great shot off. AS below with Val and Cynthia, Amanda helped hold the ball the last 10 min of game at their end of field, tremendous effort at end of the game. Great job girl.
