*Diese Auslassung war offenbar gewollt, nicht nur um den Reim auf "turn" zu wahren - sonst h�tte er ja einfach "as those same old waves of loneliness return" texten k�nnen. Damals sah es eine Weile so aus, als sollte das Englische auch den letzten Rest seiner einst germanischen Konjugation - das Endungs-s in der 3. Person Singular - verlieren. Inzwischen ist diese Mode wieder vorbei; manche Leute schlabbern es zwar immer noch, aber das gilt als schlechtes Englisch.
