Scarlett quickly jotted down a note for King James accepting his invitation, and explaining the details of her entourage, while informing him that everyone will arrive on the day of his choosing. Scarlett felt that this way, she was in control of the situation, he was just in control of when the situation took place, which was fine with her.
She immediatly sent word to Clara, placing an order for several new dresses for herself as well as everyone else. She knew it would be a stressful time for her faithful dressmaker, but she knew that Clara would be thankful for the money. It seemed that her family, all of which were crowded into a tiny house, were always barely making ends meet, and any extra money, especially the amount that Scarlett would pay for her new wardrobe, would be extremely helpful.
Meanwhile, Scarlett was finding it very difficult to concentrate on anything but King James and the way he pulled her out of the crowds and took her to his balcony. All she could think about was the way he made her feel when he stood beside her watching the sunrise, his hand on the small of her back... the way she caught him watching her instead of the sunrise... his knowing smile as he held her eye contact... CRASH!!!Suddenly Scarlett was jolted out of her daydream, she rushed into the other room to find that her daughter had pulled out the top drawer of Scarlett's desk, and Scarlett's papers were scattered everywhere. As Scarlett crouched down and began picking up the pieces, she realized exactly what Kat had found, included in the mess was Scarlett's divorce papers, as well as her only pictures of her beloved ex-husband. At first, Scarlett was overwhelmed with homesickness and longing, but it was only a flash and after a moment it was gone. Scarlett picked up the pieces of her past life and put them back where they belonged, in her top desk drawer. Then she scooped up her daughter, "Precious, how would you like to go for a walk with mommy?"
"Where are we going?"
"I don't know, would you like to come?"
"Okay." Just as Scarlett and Kat were walking out the door, ready for their adventure, a carriage pulled up in their driveway, and out stepped the servant from before.
"Another message already?" Scarlett asked one hand on her hip, the other holding Kat who was growing increasingly impatient.
"A reply, Miss. O'hara. His majesty would like to send his sincere gratitude at your acceptance of his invitation, and would like your company as well as that of your lovely family as his residence in two weeks."
"Tell your majesty that I will see him in two weeks time, now if you will excuse me I am going to go for a walk with my daughter."
"Yes ma'me." And with that Scarlett and Kat set off on their walk, stoppin only to admire the sheer beauty found in the fields of wildflowers in the Ireland Country.
