Where Love will Bloom (part 4)

::What have I gotten myself into?:: The young man asked himself as he gazed out the window of the royal carriage. He'd never been in a vehicle that traveled so fast. He had a hard time keeping his eyes from spinning. Duo softly noted that the closer they came to the palace, the more beautiful and more secluded the area became.

Fairly soon they were on a small road surrounded only by the most beautiful of trees. Strangely enough the young farmer saw that it seemed like the forest was well kept. As though it was not wild.

"Do you like my garden?"

Duo spun his face around to look at the king seated opposite of him. He blinked twice before swiftly turning his eyes to the forest looking area outside. "T-This is your royal garden your majesty?!?"

The old man laughed. "Yes it's rather large isn't it? Heero often hunts there." Duo turned himself around and looked at the quite prince seated next to him. "You can hunt?"

Heero didn't as much as look up. He was still very irritated that he would have to be around this fool who had the nerve to insult him. Duo merely stared at him. ::Damn, for royalty he sure has no manners!::

Choosing to also ignore the prince, Duo turned to look at the King and smiled. "Ah, your majesty you have a beautiful garden." With that he turned his back to the prince and continued looking out the window. The King observed the two men. He was still taken back with Duo's behavior towards Heero. Unlike any of the other people that hung around his son, the young farmer actually allowed himself to get irritated with the prince. Normally, the young men and women would put up an act pretending to favor the presence of the solemn prince. Duo, on the other hand, had treated Heero like an average day citizen and clearly confirmed his dislike of the prince's behavior.

::This will be interesting.:: The old man thought as he caught the prince shooting a small glare towards the back of the enthusiastic farmer.

"Come in Duo! You will be staying in the palace for two suns while Heero gets everything packed."

The young farmer walked through the huge room towards the high throne upon which was seated the King. He stopped before the stairs and knelt on one knee.

"Your majesty, I have to inform my father of my whereabouts. He is still in the low lands and will probably be worried about me if I don't come home."

The King nodded towards some guards who bowed in understanding and left the room. "I have sent some men to bring your father. Meanwhile, I want you to go with those guards to prince Heero's chamber. Get to know him Duo. You'll have to spend the next three moons as his only companion."

With this said the youth was let to the main hall with twenty-six doors. The palace was very large. It was said that there were a total of three hundred and thirty three rooms as a whole. Duo shivered at the thought of getting lost in this place. The sides of the hall were covered with paintings of the most famous artists. The beautiful lamps were made of the finest gold as was the door plating of the many rooms. At the very end of the hall was a large double door with two guards to each side. It seemed that the guards were leading Duo directly towards that room.

Duo waited as the guards who let him spoke to the two men guarding the door. After a short while he was told to enter. Upon entering the youth could already tell that Heero was a serious person. As he entered and the doors were closed behind him, he found himself in a short hallway. A mirror was to the left of him and to the right was nothing. Unlike the other parts of the palace, this hallway seemed rather plain. As he continued to walk he entered a large room. Duo held his ground as he felt himself captivated by the obvious hobby of the prince. To the very left of the square room was a fireplace with two comfortable seats to either side of it facing away from him. To the very right was a large bookshelf filled with books. Straight ahead was another set of doors leading to another room. But none of that was what captivated him. But rather all around him, on the walls, on the floor, even the two seats in front of the fireplace, were traces of animal hide or even propped animal heads.

A large deer head was propped above the fireplace. The two seats were patented with a beautiful hide of an animal Duo couldn't identify. Yet another rough was in front of the bookshelf, suspiciously looking like that of a panda. The young farmer wasn't sure if he should be angry or amazed by Heero's incredible collection. When he hunted it was only for food. Occasionally, if he was lucky enough to catch a large animal, he would sell the hide to a local sower.

He'd never seen anyone who'd caught so many animals before. Being too overwhelmed and also wanting to meet up with the prince, Duo walked towards the double door and lightly knocked before entering. This room was very simple. A large royal bed was against the far wall of the room. Dark blue drapes were all around it though it was pulled open on one side to show that the bed was unoccupied. To the right of the room were two doors pulled open to show a verandah that over looked the sea and part of the royal garden. To the left of the room was yet another set of doors. Duo felt himself drawn to the soothing waves of the ocean. He took caution before stepping on the large verandah. A table with two seats were placed in the center of the square plane. Beautiful wallflowers were growing on the railings.
