DAY 1, June 2002
FRONTPAGE
page 1
PAPABEAR placed the CHARLIE FLAG, in the trench, 40m away from the pillbox. Visible from both up and down the trench. MANTIS setup the Defensive TAG ZONE, 75m away, below the plateau.

G-MAN stashed his kit in a deep part of the trench, nearer Bear's bunker. While PAXO hid his bergen and the TEAM JERRY CAN (water), in the trench, 5m from the flag. All of the rest of the kit (PapaBears, Phantoms, Mantis's and G.I's) was put between 2 fallen logs and covered with a poncho. Leaf litter was thrown over it, for local cam.

CHARLIE's camp was set and they assumed sentry positions, covering all firearcs. Keeping movement to a minimum and radio traffic down. Some ate some food, knowing they would be too busy later.
Chopper set up his hide
Alpha's flag was here
Reaching the top fenceline, Phantom sat down. Looking to his left, he saw a fawn standing 10m away, straight away, it fled. After recovering from the humidity, Phantom pressed on along the fenceline, observing the gulley with his scope. the dense leaves of the large overhanging trees, obscured his vision.

Deciding to press on, for a fix on the flag, Phantom stalked down towards the lone tree, on the edge of the Day/Night gaming boundary. Stopping for a minute, he listened; nothing. Pressing on, he crept into the open.

Chopper had finshed building his bivie and was now looking uphill, when he saw, Phantom 100m away. Phantom saw him too and stopped moving. He knew he was compromised and once he saw a second Alpha player, he decided to bug out quickly, sprinting west over the open field, towards the Fernfields.

The Marshals contacted CHARLIE Command (Papabear) and informed him, a RENDEZVOUS Task was now available. If they reached a Marshal at a certain grid and collect an envelope, they would score 2 points.

Accepting the Task, Papabear asked MANTIS, G.I.Joe and PAXO if they would head off and attempt it. Phantom returned to camp and informed PAPABEAR of his recce. After a drink, he moved into a sentry position, covering Bear's Bunker, downhill. From his dark position, he saw G.I. Joe crawling away with his PSG-1.

Mantis lead the 3 man team and moved covertly towards the RENDEZVOUS, along the riverbank. Paxo was secondman with his SPETZNAZ, while G.I. hung back with his Sniper Rifle.

Nearing the rendezvous, MANTIS saw the MARSHAL walking in a square around the field. Reaching the nearest gorsebush, Mantis signalled for the Marshal to approach but this was ignored. Just then Dodger moved into the field and walked down towards Mantis's position. Sitting in wait, Mantis held his fire till Dodger was 15m away. Then opening up on auto, he HIT him.

Charlie's covert stash of kit
ALPHA began to set their camp up, on the edge of the Day/night boundary. Placing the flag behind the largest tree around. it was visible from downhill. Their Tagzone was set up by the Blossom Tree near Sniper Point.

2 of the USUALEXCUSES, headed out on a recce of their own, to look for CHARLIE. The Marshals radioed Dodger (the CO) to inform him that an AMBUSH Task was available. Dodger accepted it, getting a grid reference where Charlie would be active. Stinger and Dodger headed off downhill to the co-ordinates. Chopper began to set up his bivie.
Phantom had crept upto the bunker at Sniper Point, knowing ALPHA could be about, he sat and listened. A sharp cracking noise to his immediate front, began to sound out at a steady beat. Phantom new it must be someone setting up camp. Not wanting to be compromised, Phantom bugged out the same way he had entered, quickly.

Phantom raised Papabear on the radio, informing him of his suspiscions. "I'm heading to the top fence to get an eyeball. Out." He moved uphill quickly, crossing the open ground, behind the ridge.
