Gungnir's Stuff
Plaster blocks
In the Netherlands there is a toy brand by the name of SES which sells (sold, according to one source) molds for casting plaster building blocks, not unlike a simpler form of Hirst Art blocks.
I've bought all available molds, and multiples of most, to create a variety of Fantasy buildings, as well as a dungeon system.
Even though most of it is still under construction I'ld like to share with you what I've done so far.

I use plain uncoloured plaster. When the blocks are thoroughly dry I dip them in much diluted enamels. By using a variety of tones of each colour, and different strengths of each solution, I obtain the colour variety that I find best for Fantasy and Medieval structures.
Please refer to my page on
coloring plaster for more details.
SES molds
block sizes
Just to give you an impression of sizes, here's a pic of the most common blocks with a ruler. The sizes are in centimeters.
These are the four available molds. Actually, there also is a roof tiles mold, but is of such a scale that I've never found a use for them.
I hate to throw away anything...

These stones didn't quite fill the mold since I cast with too thick a mix on too hot a day. I did like the rough look, however, so I just built a small ruin on a hill on a 30 x 30 centimeters (1 sq. foot) terrain board.
