Hi and welcome to the tuning section of Guitar Note.
Various guitar tunings will be covered here.
Standard Tuning
This tuning is the most common type of tuning.
A note about standard: there are many dropped tunings, but no raised.
Tuning up may break your strings so it's recomended you don't try that.
Tune in order of thickest to thinnest string: E,A,D,G,B,E
Dropped D Tuning
This tuning is the second most common type of tuning.
Mainly used by Metal players.
Tune like this: D,A,D,G,B,E
Standard D Tuning
This tuning is just taking standard down 2 frets.
Tune like this: D,G,C,F,A,D
Dropped C Tuning
This tuning is common among metal. It just takes Drop D down 2 frets.
Tune like this: C,G,C,F,A,D
Standard C Tuning
This tuning is used by metal bands. Its taking standard down 4 frets.
Tune like this: C,F,Bb,Eb,G,C
Dropped B Tuning
This tuning is used by metal bands. It takes Drop D down 3 frets.
Tune like this: B,Gb,B,E,Ab,Db
Standard B Tuning
This tuning is rare. Used by metal bands. Takes standard down 5 frets.
Tune like this: B,E,A,D,Gb,E
Dropped A Tuning
This tuning is almost unused. Your strings are barely tight enough to play.
Playing in this tuning is unadvised. Takes Drop D down 5 frets.
Tune like this: A,E,A,D,Gb,B
Standard A Tuning
This tuning is almost unused. Your strings are barely tight enough to play.
Playing in this tuning is highly unadvised. Takes standard down 7 frets.
Tune like this: A,D,G,C,E,A
A Note for dropped b and under: I advise you to use 11/56 gauge strings!
If your note sure what that is just goto the nearest guitar shop and ask them for 11/56 gauge strings. They should know what you're talkign about.
