Wedding Planning - Not for the Faint of Heart
Bells & Whistles

When considering sites there are a few options, the all inclusive location which offers the tables, chairs, linens, china, food, bar, and sometimes even flowers, cake and music.  Or there is the bare bones location, where you bring in all your own vendors.  Now, I bet your thinking the all inclusive location sounds more expensive than the bare bones location, well, dont bet on it.  Youll be surprised at the way costs add up.

Take the bare bones location, you have found a location and it could be everything you ever dreamed but you need to fill it up now.  You start to make a list of all the things youll need to rent.  Chairs (for the ceremony & reception), Arches for ceremony (if outdoors), Aisle runner, PA system (to pipe in music for ceremony or reception), Tables (round or long), Linens, China, Flatware, Glasses, Heat lamps (if outdoors), Dance floor, Bar (plus you have to pay for a bartender who should be bonded and have insurance on top of buying the liquor), Extra lighting, Chair covers (if you want them), the list goes on.  And that doesnt include any food, your cake, flowers, DJ, etc.  See how things can add up?  Now, this doesnt mean that an all inclusive site is going to automatically be cheaper.  You have to shop around and look at the per person costs of each location.

* Keep in mind that prices change every year, sometimes by season, so the above example is already out of date.

But the sooner you book your location the better off you will be.  I booked my location over a year in advance so I was able to lock in my prices.  I paid the 2004 prices even though my wedding was in 2005.  Not all locations offer to lock their prices, so be sure to ask about it when you have narrowed down your location choices.

Youve seen what I paid for my location and food
so now lets look at the bare bones location.
