Animal Tracking at Puslinch Lake
Saturday March 8. 9am to 1pm.
Adrian ODriscoll studied tracking at the well known Tom Brown Jr. Tracker School. Currently, he works as a naturalist and educator with the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority. Adrian will be giving a tracking information session before leading us on a tracking hike around Puslinch Lake.
The first track is the end of the string. At the far end a being is moving; a mystery, dropping a hint about itself every so many feet, telling you more about itself until you can almost see it, even before you come to it. The mystery reveals itself slowly, track by track, giving its genealogy early to coax you in. Further on, it will tell you the intimate details of its life and work, until you know the maker of the track like a lifelong friend. (Tom Brown Jr.)
This will be a great opportunity for members to learn how to read the stories that animals leave behind. Meet at the OVC parking lot, corner of College Ave. and Gordon St. at 9am to carpool to Puslinch Lake. Bring a snack.
Winter Birds
Sunday March 30. 10am to 2pm. Meet at the OVC parking lot at 10am for carpooling.
We will hike the North Trail at the Royal Botanical Gardens to Cootes Paradise to see what winter birds are still around. Bring a snack or lunch for yourself and some sunflower seeds to feed the chickadees and nuthatches. We will meet at the OVC parking lot, corner of College Ave. and Gordon St. at 10am to carpool to Burlington.
Geo-caching in Guelph!

Armed with our trusty GPS units, Kevin Butt and the Guelph Field Naturalists will be embarking on an adventurous afternoon locating treasure! If you dont have your own GPS, dont worry because we will have some to share! Treasure maps are often in the form of coordinates and occasional riddles.
