We have a VERY exciting Project in the works!  It originated as a Bronze Award project, but this is for all of the girls to particpate in.  One of the GS parents works for the US Dept of Agriculture, in the Natural Resources Conservation Service.  They have asked for our help in perserving a segment of the creek that provides our water to Gilroy.  The cattle have trampled the creek bed.  We are going to plant California grass seedlings in order to allow the water a natural filteration system.
We are going to try and arrange for a Ranger from Henry Coe park to visit during lunch (PIZZA! compliments of NRCS).
The plan is for this to take place during Christmas break. Of course, Mother nature is in charge.  We need the creek bed to be moist enough to make planting easy.  It may get pushed up a bit, we'll just have to wait and see.
Our December 1st meeting will have a powerpoint presentation by the Range mgmt specialist and the Civil engineer that have agreed to come and talk to the girls.  Please make sure your daughters can come to this meeting.  Parents, you are welcome to stay also.
We are also going to be making Owl and bat boxes.
