Runners require "special" shoes, these shoes have to fit there feet. To find out what type of feet you have dip your feet into some water, don't get them to wet. Then on a tile floor or a piece of paper, set you foot onto the tile or paper.

Stability Shoes

If you have a "normal" sized arch, it should leave a definte heel and fore foot print, they should be connected by a broad band. Stability Shoes are generally the best type of shoes for normal type archs.

Motion Control Shoes

Your foot print should look like a sole of a foot that has touched the floor. Such a print is usually the result of a foot that strikes on the outside of the heel and rolls inward excessively, a process called over-pronation. Motion Control shoes are usually the best for a flat foot.

Cushioned Shoes

In high arched footprints, the band conecting the forefoot and the heel is very thin or doesn't connect them at all. Under pronation is often an occurence of a high arch. This problem is often addressed by a Cushioned shoe.
