| For a look at the rest of the season from the Fort Cherry Duals on, click HERE 1/4/06 Highlands opened the second half of the season with a disappointing loss at the hands of the Burrell Bucs in Section 1-AA play, 54-15. The Rams led 15-12 after Aaron Boyko's decision win followed pins by Cody Bertolino and Nathan Tomporoski. That was it for the Rams though as the Bucs ran the table the rest of the way. Ed Petrosky and Nick Glesk each suffered their first loss of the season. Burrell, the second ranked team in the WPIAL, is now in the driver's seat to the section crown again, while Highlands finishes as runner-up again if the can win the remaining matches with Summit, Shadyside and Valley. 12/21/05 The Golden Rams finished the first half of the season with a section win over visiting Riveriew. Highlands opened up with three forfiet wins at stating with Nathan Tomporoski, Aaron Boyko and Mike Henderson. After pin from Matt Sokolowski at 112, Justin Nobiliese got another late pin to run the score to 30-0 before Riverview got on the board. Eddie Petrosky got the 4th forfiet of the night at 130 and after a decision loss at 135, Highlands picked up back to back pins from George Stettmeir and Phil Scalise. Riverview scored their final points at 152, then Nick Glesk (pin), Scott Panchik (decision) and Mike Baker (pin) rounded out the evening for Highlands. Highlands enters the Christmas Break at 10-2 overall, 3-0 in section 1AA. Three Rams are undefeated: Eddie Petrosky (12-0, 130), Nick Glesk (11-0, 160) and Nathan Tomporoski (12-0, 215). George Stettmeir (140), and Aaron Boyko (275) all sit at 10-2 at the break. 12/16/05 Kiski School near Saltsburg was the site of the Rams match tonight. Mike Baker, Nathan Tomporoski and Aaron Boyko staked Highlands to an 18-0 lead with 1st period pins. After Mike Henderson won a decision at 103, the Cougars took 2 of the next 3 matches. Justin Nobiliese earned a first period pin for that win. After Eddie Petrosky's major decision win, Jordan Toth, George Stettmeir, Josh Costanzo, Nick Glesk and Scott Panchik all picked up first period pins, leaving Kiski only a forfiet win at 145 the rest of the way. Following the 61-14 win, the Rams wind up the December portion of the schedule at home against section foe Riverview on Wednesday 12/21 at the Highlands Middle School. BOXSCORE 12/14/05 Highlands went on the road in Section 1-AA visiting the Steel Valley Ironmen and came home with a big win, 73-3. Starting at 130, Highlands got pins from Eddie Petrosky, George Stettmeir, Josh Costanzo, Nick Glesk, Mike Baker, Nathan Tomporoski, Aaron Boyko, Mike Henderson, and Ryan Clark. Justin Nobiliese (major decision) and Scott Panchik (decision) also won. Jordan Toth and Phil Scalise picked 6 team points each with forfiet wins. Of special note, Mike Baker got his first career on mat win with his first period pin. Petrsoky andTomporoski improved to 10-0, Glesk is 9-0, while Stettmeir, Scalise and Boyko are now 8-2 The Rams head to Saltsburg next to take on Kiski Prep on Friday. BOXSCORE 12/9-10/05 Highlands attended the Hampton Duals. The Rams got by Plum 43-31 and then squeaked by host Hampton 30-30 on a tiebreaker when Scott Panchik was repeatedly punched in the head by Hampton's wrestler. The resulting penalty points cost the Talbots the match. Saturday, the Rams took care of Langley, Baldwin and Moon to get to the finals against Pine Richland. Highlands fell 30-29 despite winning 8 of the 14 matches. Several Golden Rams had PR wrestlers on their backs but could not quite secure pins, including the final won by Eddie Petrosky. Trailing 30-26, Eddie had what appeared to be a pin for what seemed like eternity in the first period, but the call wasn't there. Overall it was a strong showing for Highlands against.all AAA competition finishing second in the 12 team tournament. Petrosky and Nathan Tomporoski went 6-0 for Highlands at Hampton while Nick Glesk sat out the Langley win to go 5-0.. Congratulations to Jordan Toth and Mike Henderson, who both earned their first career varsity wins at Hampton. Dawg Duals Boxscores 12/7/05 Highlands visited Elderton for the first section match of the year. Highlands won both matches handily last season, but this one went down to the wire. The Golden Rams prevailed on Nick Glesk's pin in the final match of the night for a 37-31 win. The Rams trailed 27-12 headed into the 130 bout where Eddie Petrosky got a first period pin for Highlands. After losing a major decision at 135, the Rams trailed 31-18 with 4 matches to go. George Stettmeir (pin) , Phil Scalise (decision) and Josh Costanzo (major decision) all won to pull into a 31-31 tie and set the stage for Glesk. Nick led the whole way before getting a 3rd period pin to nail down the win. Nathan Tomproski (pin) and Mike Henderson (forfiet) also scored 6 points each for Highlands. The Rams have 6 matches scheduled at the Hampton Duals this Friday and Saturday. 12/5/05 Highlands hosted Mars at the Highlands Middle School in a non-section matchup. In another see-saw match, Highlands took the lead for good on George Stettmeir's pin at 140 and held on for a 35-28 win. The match started at 215. Other pins for the Rams were Eddie Petrosky, Phil Scalise, Scott Panchik and Aaron Boyko. Nick Glesk and Nathan Tomporoski also had decisions for Highlands. The Rams open section play Wednesday at Elderton. 12/2/05 The Rams headed to South Side Beaver to open the season for an assembly match in front of the South Side student body. High points included Scott Panchik's return to the lineup after a 4 year absence, with Scott pulling out a win in the last 30 seconds, nearly gettting a pin. Nick Glesk had a big come from behind victory winning 8-7 with a takedown in the last 2 seconds. Eddie Petrosky and George Stettmeir both had pins for the Rams while Matt Sokolowski, Nathan Tomporoski and Aaron Boyko all won by decison for the Rams. |
