The red ("Firethorn") was applied, then after the appropriate time for drying, it was remasked for the "Claret".

The registration numbers were to be in "Claret", so the masking for the numbers was uncovered, and the exposed base paint was hand-sanded so the trim color will adhere properly.

The control surfaces were painted, still separate from the rest of the airplane.

Steve removed the masking from the newly-painted white drop-shadow on the registration numbers.

Control surface balance was checked by an A&P, decals and placards were applied, and the Cheetah was ready to go.
