CURTAINS RAISING FUNDS FOR PLAYHOUSE

GTT�s annual fundraiser � this year benefiting The One-Act Playhouse � will be presented December 18 at 8:00 PM at the 78th Street Theatre Lab on Manhattan�s upper west side.

Executive produced by Justin Boccitto and directed by Michael Blevins, this year's event will feature a revival of QUICK CURTAINS: An Evening of Shorts by Classic and Contemporary Playwrights. QUICK CURTAINS premiered at the 14th Street Theatre in Manhattan this past summer yet the December Fundraising incarnation will feature it�s original bill of Strindberg�s THE STRONGER, the fantastical SIX WHO PASS WHILE THE LENTILS BOIL, a revised version of the classic sketch A PAIR OF LUNATICS, GTT Social Awareness piece, AFTERMATH, and an additional new piece THE POT BOILER a vaudevillian comedy by Alice Gerstenberg and adapted for this staging by director Michael Blevins. Proceeds from the holiday event will support future One Act Playhouse evenings, like QUICK CURTAINS, and will also benefit the One Act Playhouse Jr. Educational Program (more...)

  
COUNT TO TENNESSEE

After COUNT TO TEN�s success at the 14th Street Theatre, writer/director Michael Blevins and The Group Theatre Too will be bringing the production to Blevins hometown, Johnson City, Tennessee this upcoming January 2008. GTT has cast 25 talented young performers from the East Tennessee area to perform the camper roles in the musical. The rest of the cast will consist of the original principal performers from the New York City productions including: Jennifer Avila, Brian Merker, Lexie Speirs, Heather Lightcap, Jacob Burlas, Dylan Bush, Hunter Gross and �campers� Eddy Francisco, Brandon Wiener and newby, Nick Ardito. GTT founding member, Nicky Romaniello, will take over the role of �Victor Chase�. Romaniello�s performing credits include Carnegie Hall, Tap City, The Metropolitan Opera and the recent national tour of URBAN COWBOY. (more...)

     
TENNESSEEAN CONTEST

In this age of "American Idol", "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Famecast" The Group Theatre Too has announced an exciting new contest taking place in East Tennessee this January. During each performance of COUNT TO TEN at the Johnson City Community Theatre audience members will have the chance to vote for their favorite Tennesseean. Scores will be tallied and one of the twenty five Tennessee ensemble members will win the opportunity to travel to New York and appear in one performance of COUNT TO TEN at The Connelly Theatre in March 2008. GENERATION TAP EXPERIENCE

On November 20th Chelsea Studios in New York City housed the Generation Tap Experience. Generation Tap members Nicky Romaniello, Eddy Francisco, Justin Boccitto and Jeff Brelvi were joined by GTT members and a group of youngsters from Generation Tap�s 8-week Experience Workshop in Nyack, NY. These young tappers, ages 8 to 18, tapped their way through several intricate and entertaining numbers choreographed by Justin Boccitto and Michael Blevins. The Nyack dancers included: Samara Goldberg, Danny Hammond, Mitchell Scheider, Faryn Corey, Maggie Brennan, Jessica Lynch, Hannah Schwalberg, Olivia Gonzales and Charlotte Harrow. Shuffling along side them were Juli Greenberg, who performed a duet choreographed by Blevins; Cristina Marie, partnered with Ryan Gregorio for a rendition of �By The Light of The Silvery Moon� and Jennifer Avila, who performed �Never Say Never� from the new musical, COUNT TO TEN, with Brian Merker, Lexie Speirs and Nicky Romaniello. Joe Harrington and Daisy Castellucci added to the evening by performing several song selections from Generation Tap�s upcoming new musical, TAPARET. COUNTDOWN TO CONNELLY

NEW YORK, Connelly Theatre - February 29 - March 16, 2008: After much anticipation GTT PRESENTS a variety of different production including Count To Ten, Seesaw, The Choreographers Canvas and More Quick Curtains.

COUNT TO TEN � Back by popular demand, following the out of town Tennessee production, COUNT TO TEN, will return to NYC for a three week run at the Connelly. The cast of the 14th Street Theatre 2007 summer production, will be reprising their roles. Executive Producer, Justin Boccitto, said �We are looking forward to COUNT TO TEN�s return to New York. SMALL PLAYS FOR SMALL PEOPLE

This fall GTT initiated a new educational program for elementary kids, The One-Act Playhouse Jr. is currently running at PS 75 in Manhattan on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:15pm � 5:15 pm as part of the Afterschool Enrichment Program. Based on the success of the afterschool musical theatre program Performers� Playground, Marge Hudson, PS 75 Afterschool Director requested the one-act program in hopes of providing an outlet geared towards students who are not necessarily musically inclined. The program is headed up by GTT Artistic Director, Michael Blevins and paid intern Ryan Gregorio.

The class of 12 students will present an evening of one-acts on December 19th at the PS 75 auditorium. In addition to traditional theatre games and acting exercises students participate and rehearse a production of several one-act plays to be presented before the school and general public including The Pot of Gold, Witch Word and the classic poem, �Twas the Night Before Christmas that the students have adapted for stage presentation. Admission is free and your presence at the show is requested. Please show your support for the One-Act Playhouse Jr by attending the QUICK CURTAINS fundraiser and/or the performances by the PS 75 One-Act Playhouse Jr. students.
