SEESAW

Seesaw is a musical with a book by Michael Bennett, music by Cy Coleman, and lyrics by Dorothy Fields.

Based on the William Gibson Tony Nominated play Two for the Seesaw,Jerry Ryan, a simple, handsome, young lawyer from America's mid-west, comes to New York where he gets involved in a romance with a kookie, young dancer who's background, ideas and attitudes are very different from his own. This is Gittel Mosca, who introduces Jerry to all aspects of her life in New York, peopled with strange and wonderful characters from every part of the globe. Jerry finds himself outside X-rated cinema marquees in Times Square and is propositioned by Eighth Avenue hookers.

. There are tender moments for Jerry and Gittel and many other bizarre events including a performance of Hamlet by a mobile street theater in the original Puerto Rican. We also meet Gittel's best friend, David, a gay choreogrpaher who dreams up the ultimate Broadway production number! Sadly the relationship between Jerry and Gittel in the end fails to lead to anything more permenant. But both have learned things about themselves and about their emotional hang-ups - and also about New York, that very special and exciting city.
