Lesson
Plan Report
INTRODUCTION
There
is the need for students whose activities demand a lot of energy not withstanding
their growing developing mind, takes in good amount of balanced diet at
the appropriate time.
It
has been clear throughout the lesson taught that the dietary requirement
of human changes. This depends on their sex, age, activity, body size and
the temperature of the environment. The balance diet for a student must
contain carbohydrates, protein, fat, water, vitamins and mineral salts
and dietary fibre in the correct proportion.
Students during the lesson learnt
a lot, things they took for granted, were a vital part in their quest to
learn effectively. They understood the importance of a balance diet to
the student. They also use information resource technology from the Internet,
software’s, which is departure from the normal textbooks they often use
Seeking, processing, presenting their results and storing their notes on
diskettes instead of books. To crown it all they understood the adage “a
sound mind in a healthy body”
SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES
The
preparations before the lesson really help. Types of meals prepared, handout
given, testing the networking of the computers and storing the down loaded
web pages on drive C of the server. The software was tested. These made
it possible to have a smooth lesson.
The
most challenging part of the lesson was the light outages, though the handout
could help it did not contain all the necessary information.Another thing
was the when a diskette could not be open(assess denied) though it had
been tested. The food the students’ brought could not be scientifically
tested to know the amount and proportion of the components present.
CLASSROOM ORGANIZATION
AND LOGISTICS
The school computer laboratory
has twenty (20) computers and a server that are not working. They were
previously linked to the Internet but because we owe Africa Online, our
lines have been disconnected. The software support base is good to store
and use downloaded material from the Internet either on a disc or a diskette.
Students were able to finish their work, three students were allocated
one computer of which each student spent thirty (30) minutes of the one
twenty (120) for a class of sixty (60) students. The remaining thirty (30)
minutes was used for a group discussions and presentation. One of the three-member
groups at least had a prior knowledge of word processing using Microsoft
Word that helped with the work of the group
SUGGESTED CHANGES
An
electronic balance could have been used to weigh the various component
of a balanced diet before cooking the sample meals. I would advice other
teachers to take accurate measurement to obtain a scientific base of a
balance diet for a teacher.
FEEDBACK
One
of my students’ commented,“Sir! What I have learnt had really confirmed
the adage ‘a sound mind in a healthy body’ “. The students were overwhelmed
of the current information on the website visited as compared to their
textbooks. The students also were happy about how fast they could process
their notes and slides for presentation using templates. There was no need
to clean the blackboard. There was an automatic spell check for them. Some
parents thanked me for the correction of the obese child who has stopped
eating toffees and cookies all the time. My colleague teachers asked me
why the students talked about balance diet in the school that much to the
extent that the prefects had compiled the school administrators to ensure
that those who sell food in the school to sell only balance diet meal.
