BALANCE DIET
Introduction
Human diets have changed with
civilization, evolution of diet through the hunter-gatherer about a million
years ago, and an agriculturist about 10000 years ago to modern man of
the industrial society. Not only that but dietary requirements of human
changes and depends on their sex, age, activity, body size and the temperature
of their external environment. This depicts the amount of food taken in
(thus less food is eaten per individual in warm climate). Every human requires
a daily intake of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and mineral source,
water and roughage (dietary fibre). But their proportion depends on a number
of factors for us it is the activities the individual undertakes

· Understand the nutrients present in a balance diet
· Know the functions of the nutrients and their proportions
in the balance diet
· Know how all the nutrients in the balance diet are important
to the healthy development of the brain and the human body
as a whole
· Understand that without essential nutrients to develop a healthy
body learning is almost impossible
Actional
Activities (teacher component)
In teaching this topic I would read from books and download more information
from the Internet on diet and process them using MS Word. I would then
transfer them into slides on power point software on drive C. Each
slide would carry a content objective and its corresponding performance
objective with a footnote of a website resource address so that when online
it can be assessed whiles teaching.
Learning
Activities (student component)
Students must contribute
their ideas into the lesson, and ask necessary questions to unearth the
meaning of the content objectives so that the lesson goals would be possible
if students could assess the Internet and do group discussions. Individual
students must be able to prepare a simple balance diet for students for
the class to eat
Instructional
Strategies
-To make sure that the
lesson goals are achieved;
1) Materials for teaching
must be prepared before hand
2) Hand outs must be
given to the students to read and discuss before class
3) Already prepared different
types of meals must be established in class
4) Short verbal quiz
can keep the class alert
Project
Assessment
Class assessment would
be done with verbal quiz, class work and homework Ability to assess information
from the websites, using search engines to express their understanding
of the lesson with personal experience. Ability to design a questionnaire
with MS Word and analysis data with MS Excel Individual contribution to
discussion and conclusion: Students will work individually and in groups
During the working time students would be made to assess the pears
performance at about 20%. The group performance would be assessed by the
manner at above 30%. Class objective test would be use to assess individual
students at about 20% Class project activity by each student on subtopics
of the main project topic Eating effect learning will be assessed
at about 30%.
