90210 Comparison
On similarities between the characters of 90210 and Grosse Pointe, Darren Star says "...everything is definitely a very comic exaggeration of the truth"
E! Online Snippet (Totally Tube 2000)
Once again, for the record: This show is not a parody of Darren Star's experiences working on the teen soap Beverly Hills, 90210. The manipulative, hell-raising star of the fictional show Grosse Pointe is in no way a reflection on Shannen Doherty. Any resemblance to Luke Perry by Quentin King (an aging actor with a receding hairline) is purely unintentional. The insecure and emotionally stunted actress, Marcy Sternfeld, is not based in any way on Tori Spelling. In fact, the hilarious and often ridiculous behavior portrayed on Grosse Pointe is entirely fictitious. Beverly Hills, 90210 was a serious, realistic and moving drama that featured a consummately professional cast whose actions on and off the screen were beyond reproach. Aaron Spelling is a great, great man. Any similarities between Grosse Pointe and 90210 are purely accidental. Laugh at your own risk. Signed, Darren Star's legal representation.
Jason Priestly and Joe E. Tata both did guest spots on Grosse Pointe (click their names to see the screenshots!)
