Djimi Traore was signed from French side Laval in February '99 for 500,000pounds. Traore has said to be one of the most promising defenders of his generation, by some. That's why Liverpool had to fight off the likes of AC Milan, Paris St Germain and Lazio to get the youngster's signature.
Traore, has made himself a regular in the Liverpool squad and he even started the first game of the season at left-back after Liverpool sold Dominic Matteo to Leeds. He is a versatile player and can play both at centre back and at left-back.
Traore captained the reds reserve to the title two seasons ago. Many clubs are interested in signing this young prospect but he made his intentions clear to all as he signed a new 4-year contract at Anfield in December '00.
Traore is currently on loan with a frech outfit RC Lens until the end of the season.
