During Danny Murphy's time at Anfield, he's experienced an absolute nightmare and he has also experienced success. Danny's career has gone from bad to good. He was signed from Crewe Alexandra in '97 for 2million by former Liverpool Boss, Roy Evans.

Danny hasn't found it easy during his time at Anfield. He was a fringe player and found it very hard to get into the 1st team. He, was then loaned back to Crewe Alexandra at the end of the '98/'99 season. At this point in time, his days at Anfield, looked to be over.

Under, Gerard Houllier, Murphy's career has taken a big turn. He was on the verge of a move, away from Anield until Houllier, confirmed that he was in his plans for the
future.  During the '99/'00 season, he eventually made the break through into the 1st team and scored his first goal for Liverpool. He then became a regular in the Red's team.

Murphy, who is dangerous from dead ball situations as he showed against Manchester United at Old Trafford during the '00-'01 season, which was Liverpool's first win at Old Trafford in five years! Murphy, can also score spectacular goals as he showed against Leeds United in the 3-1 victory. Murphy, who has fought off the likes of Smicer, Biscan, McAllister, Hamann to get into the 1st team will find it, even harder as Jamie Redknapp, Patrik Berger and Bernard Diomede make their return from injury this season (2001/'02).

Murphy, is an important member of the Liverpool squad and featured in the F.A Cup and UEFA Cup Finals during the Red's treble winning season but missed, the Worthington Cup Final due to an injury.
