Jerzy Dudek made history by becoming the first ever Pole to move to Liverpool. Gerard Houllier seemed to have lost patience with Sander Westerveld and snooped for the Pole whose move to Arsenal fell through.

Dudek has proven himself since coming to Liverpool and he is one of the reasons that Liverpool have the best defence in the Premier League, if not Europe. He is tall and very confiedent between the sticks. He has single handedly won Liverpool 3 points on a number of occasssions, such as the Derby County game when he saved the penaly in the last minute.

Jerzy is a Poland international and moved to Liverpool from Dutch side, Feyenoord. He was supposed to go to Arsenal but the deal fell through and Arsenal opted for Richard Wright. They obviously didn't know what they were doing. Dudek ended the career of former Liverpool #1, Sander Westerveld who was just too inconsistent to play for a club like Liverpool but at least he left with 5 medals in his pocket.

Dudek was signed on the same day as English youngster, Chris Kirkland from Coventry City and he was declared #1 choice by Gerard Houllier but it will be good to see the competition between these two amazing keepers. He was signed for 4.5 million pounds.

Dudek has already proven himself to the Anfield faithful and he is seen by many as the best Keeper in the Premier League today. He also played a big part in his country's road to the World Cup.
