Igor Biscan came to Liverpool in December 2000 from Crotia Zagreb for 5.5 million pounds. Biscan made his debut in the match against Ipswich Town where he came on as a sub. Biscan, a young player had already played in the Champions League and UEFA cup, and was a regular in the Croatia national side before coming to Liverpool. Liverpool had to fight for his signature with Barcelona, AC Milan, Juventus and Ajax.

He can play either in the centre or on the right of mid field and has played in both positions for Liverpool. Biscan is not a quick player but he is skilful and is a good passer of the ball.

Biscan, whose childhood idol was Ian Rush was noticed by Gerard Houllier in the U-21 European championships in Slovakia in the year 2000.

Biscan has played quite a few games for the first team but most of his time is spent in the reserves or on the bench. The one game that Biscan did start this season ('01-'02), Liverpool lost 4-0 and that was against Chelsea. Biscan is unlikely to be at the club next season as Gerard Houllier looks for a replacement for McAllister who is set to retire as his contract expires at the end of the season.
